sophiebbls Feels the most accessible of That Handsome Devil's albums. Has plenty of great tracks here that all feel the most surfer-like yet. Shoutouts to the music videos for this one, the music video for Everyone's Trying To Kill Me is gold. Favorite track: Guys Are Gross.

    Tom thumbnail
Tom The Agalloch cover tops it off!!! Favorite track: You Were But A Ghost In My Arms (Agalloch Cover).
    INDOLE / Filth Eternal thumbnail
INDOLE / Filth Eternal While Oak Horizon is certainly the most driving track, and the standout for me, Bergtagen’s tracks all live in the more gothic “Dark Metal” world of arpeggiated guitar lines and more deeply intoned vocals. Sonically, the Agalloch cover (and their adaptations to it) make perfect sense. Fans of metal that shrieks and rips will not find that here; instead Bergtagen leans into the more emotional side of metal, with the nostalgia evident in the band’s reformation seeming to drive the project forward. Favorite track: Oak Horizon.
    Nikolas thumbnail
Nikolas I’ve had this on heavy rotation since it released. I can’t help but feel sentimental about the familiar sounds, progressions, and feelings reminiscent of the mid-2000s era in which these songs were written. Yet somehow, the songs feel compelling, fresh and relevant in 2026. It leaves me hoping a full-length is around the corner. Favorite track: In Forests Eternal.

  3. Maa Soi

    Maa Soi Maa Soi

    aquatheology thumbnail
aquatheology I've heard this album many years ago; it became a distant memory, although I continued whistling Maa Soi from time to time.

Could not believe my eyes when I saw that the House of Inkantation was able to unearth this from the depths of time (how?!).

The small blurb here aptly calls this a 'relic'; this is as close to the essence as you can get. Favorite track: Maa Soi.
    Ädäm thumbnail
Ädäm "Maa Soi" doesn´t feel like a regular release, it carries the scent of damp earth, wet wood and old paths - a Finnish dark folk relic that seems to have simply bypassed the modern world. An absolute must-have for anyone who instinctively gravitates towards Tenhi and similar artists!

Lorenzo Stunning one-man atmospheric French black metal incorporating a triumphant melodic approach. Expanding from past sounds to touch upon earlier melodeath and a defined Swedish sound, Scars Of Yesteryears brings forth journey-like songs brimming with vitality.
    Hollow thumbnail
Hollow I can't be more amazed by this album. Each song is a whole different journey. Such a great release! Favorite track: Ashes Of Grievance.
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator French Atmospheric Black Metal. I have everything of ITV so far & I love it all! I fully expect this album to follow the upward trend & be even better than the previous! The three songs available so far say I am right... :) Highly recommended!!!

Edit: A superb album & perhaps the best one yet! I am going to need quite a few more repeats - just to make sure... 😉🤘🤘🤘

𝙑𝙖𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 Fantastic. Grim praise, reverence for the Black Foe of the World in his adversarial majesty. This is the best Tolkien-themed black metal I've ever heard, doesnt use its subject matter as a crutch in the slightest. Favorite track: God Chain.
    Milo Bloom thumbnail
Milo Bloom Very catchy and enjoyable black metal, well worth picking up. Favorite track: Dark Magic River.
