  1. From Silence to Somewhere

Lumen99 Excellent retro-prog executed flawlessly, would easily be considered one of the best prog albums of all time if it came out in 1973. Hell, it might still be one of the best prog albums of all time. Favorite track: Foxlight.
    Leterren thumbnail
Leterren In the Prog Archives, this is the only album from this millennium to crack the top 45 on the all time list. The lovable grognards over there can't seem to get enough of Wobbler, and neither can I. Favorite track: Fermented Hours.

  2. Le Bateleur

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) This item was on my extensive wishlist for a long time, somewhere in the bottom half named "forgotten, not forlorn". When it recently appeared on Alan Benjamin's wishlist, I was reminded of this cruel fact. Actually, many of the fans I'm following on Bandcamp, renowned for their excellent taste in music, already purchased it long ago, which unmistakeably says something about the quality of this album. Moreover, it's from the Italian "AltrOck Productions" label, which offers a hefty catalog of superb releases. Should I write more? Well, yes, of course... Fans of complex 70's vintage music employing huge stacks of keyboards will have a lot of fun with this gem from France created by Fabrice Chouette, Patrick Dufour, and Frédéric Chaput. OK, this should suffice. Now listen... and buy... Favorite track: Le Bateleur.

eternus58 How can i possibly missed this. Ok, shame on me. A band refreshing PROG, and making this genre evolving once again. THANKS!!!!

Chris <(") The lyrics alone are outstanding.
The album doesn't "flow" as good as their latest album Amazingous, but instead offers more experiments and stays even more quirky.

A track like "Teddy Bears" predates what will be A.M.A.Z.I.N.G a few years later.

Really, a must-have for any fan of awesome pop/rock/exerimental stuff. Favorite track: Teddy Bears.

Leterren If the quirky stylings of Cheeto's Magazine don't make you smile and laugh, you are dead inside Favorite track: Nova America.

  4. When The Dust Settles...
    by Salmon

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) "Salmon" is yet another band from the Netherlands, which emphasizes clearly why I keep on reiterating that Dutch prog is one of the best in the world. Continuing a long tradition of highly melodic, yet pleasantly complex symphonic rock that originated in the 70's with bands like "Focus", "Kayak", "Finch", "Solution", and "Lady Lake", just to name a few, this band enchants us with flawless songwriting and a pinch of "Gentle Giant" flavor. As usual in prog, the shorter tracks are much better than the 20-minute epic, which suffers a bit from being stuffed with too many stereotypical phrases that were already boring back in the golden era where they came from. The exquisite quality of the remaining tracks, however, outweighs this little drawback considerably. Favorite track: Grey Velvet.
