The songs of Ed Cartledge, who's also known as the main songwriter of the "Early Cartographers", undoubtedly have some properties of progressive rock, while at the same time sounding quite like post-rock. This is an interesting intersection of genres, occupied by just a few bands commonly tagged as "post-progressive" - a musical terrain opened up by "Radiohead" and the likes. It's a fascinating variant of progressive music that doesn't rely on the legacy of 70's rock, but rather explores new paths into the unknown, thus taking the term "progressive" literally.
