  1. Rendon
    by Thou
    supported by
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien Thou can obviously do no wrong. Everything they do is incredible and wonderful and I just cannot get enough of their music. Favorite track: Loneliness Dances in the Gorgon's Stare.
    boinky37 thumbnail
boinky37 I sure hope Bryan never gets his hands on a lozenge. Favorite track: The Song of Illuminate Darkness.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Favorite track: The Song of Illuminate Darkness.

S.P.I.N.E. I can’t tell you how much I’ve been enjoying this album!
    activa44 thumbnail
activa44 I discovered this band time ago when I also found out about their ''name-peers'' Morbid Scum and Moribund Scum (also, all 3 play more or less the same type of music and all do it really well).

I thought the vocalist sounded quite similar to the great Martin Van Drunen, and also that the riffs and sound were great!

Then I was told the vocalist is the same of Last Legion Alive, which did an awesome split with Cancer Spreading, years ago.

    That's so cool!

I guess live they're even better, btw!

    gnihilo thumbnail
gnihilo Unusually catchy (in a good way!) sludge metal with great atmospheric passages and nicely woven hints of dissonance. The mix suits the music perfectly and really lets you immerse yourself in this great album!
Brett (Lascaille's Shroud / Soulmass) thumbnail
Brett (Lascaille's Shroud / Soulmass) Excellent record from beginning to end. Love the production on this as well, just adore the sound and the performances. Strong recommendation. Favorite track: Rise of the Atomic Ghouls.
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X Definitely FFO Drofnosura, though this is a bit more straightforward and catchy/groovy, and nothing wrong with that.

I hope folks give this a chance cuz it’s quality stuff. Love! Favorite track: He Who Killed the Devil.

Arrogant Bastard Yah, this artwork is easily in contention for best of the year.
This knuckle-dragging, skull-crushing slab of thrash infused death metal is the is just the (ferrous) icing on the cake
    Favorite track: Rituals in Thar'amath.

    parazyte thumbnail
parazyte the vocals of this band are phenomenal, after a year of listening to them i went n read the lyrics, and in some cases i felt embarassed that i was holding songs with such high esteem with such silly lyrics. but thats the beauty of music, i couldnt care less what message a band is trying to send as long as the music sounds amazing, and in that area Jalang excels. PS. I never heard a female vocalist sound so motivated. lets not forget that the crust punk music perfectly accentuates the voice. A+
    Thibaut Devigne thumbnail
Thibaut Devigne Some pretty good hardcore punk here. Screeching vocals over fast and catchy riffs: it's a good recipe for a headbang. It's long enough for the listener to appreciate, yet short enough that it doesn't overstay its welcome. Good stuff. Favorite track: Lawan Dan Hancurkan.
    Bianca Valentino thumbnail
Bianca Valentino One of the most exciting Australian hardcore releases of 2021. It’s charged by a sense of revolutionary urgency. Lyrically exploring themes of politics, religion, feminism and queer rights in South East Asia and beyond. Vocalist Alda delivers authoritative vocals in Bahasa Indonesia and English, engaging with both her own and collective narratives, giving the songs real substance and authenticity—the record is deep. Danceable thrash! Favorite track: Cops N Klan.

sakrifilth This one is hard to ignore. Pissed black metal at its peak. Favorite track: Kali Yuga (Age of Iron).
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X An aural machine gun pummelling you with spit & nails. Fantastic!!!

    PS — These vocals 🔥🔥🔥

(I’m having to resist a really strong urge to send this straight to the top of my 2026 list; it’s just one of those perfect-album-at-the-perfect-time records that takes you by storm!) Favorite track: Black Sun Eclipse.
    Josh Buckley thumbnail

    Finger Food Finger Food
    supported by
    frankwurst thumbnail
frankwurst My acquaintance of Sadist started only with this album, which immediately made me want to discover more.
Each song is unique while composing a single album. Rough black vocals, sometimes contrasted with these distinctive harpsichords notes. Furious, advanced, dark.
    Lloyd James thumbnail
Lloyd James It shouldn't be allowed for a band to release such an engaging and energised album over 30 years into their career (see also, Enslaved), but here we are.

Most of the hallmarks of classic 90's prog death are on display (jazz & thrash influences, melodic bass), something that really distinguishes Firescorched is the keys, adding an additional melodic element. Favorite track: Finger Food.
    Dmitry Nevozhay thumbnail
Dmitry Nevozhay Come on guys, it's Sadist, one of pioneers of jazzy prog death genre. This time with lineup change to highly skilled bassist Paul Thesseling (Obscura, Pestilence) and drummer Roman Goulon (Necrophagist, Benighted), and that's for good!
