  1. Waves I
    by Palehorse/Palerider
    supported by
    Keebler Dilf thumbnail
Keebler Dilf I love how these guys can simultaneously write these extremely foreboding, heavy riffs while the vocals sound like the most peaceful washes. Simply calling it Doomgaze feels like a disservice to the wall of sound they conjure up with every release. There's not much else quite like Palehorse/Palerider. Favorite track: Division.
    jazzberto thumbnail
jazzberto I like all of this Ep, Heavier than their debut but still a great mix of genres, Doomgaze seems to suit the style as others have mentioned. I still think post rock has a big hand in this. Great EP folks. Favorite track: Don't Leave Me Behind.
    Iain H thumbnail
Iain H Palehorse/Palerider get better with each release. Stunningly heavy Doomgaze. Not sure why, but February seems an ideal month to release this in! Some of winter's gloomth remains, yet the days are growing noticeably longer. This nails that melancholic optimism for me! Favorite track: Lobotomy Domine.
    rrukeyy thumbnail
rrukeyy Hauntingly calm atmospheric doom(gaze) metal. The guys are super nice and also put on a killer show.

    Chimplord thumbnail
Chimplord Awesome death/doom that is on the same level as Gatecreeper and Temple of Void. Favorite track: Artificial Psychosis.
    positronicping thumbnail
positronicping Exceptional death doom, as moreish and hefty as it gets. This thing looms, gallops, then wallops you into submission. Favorite track: Decoration of Graves.
    tiernan ^▿^ thumbnail
tiernan ^▿^ It's when the atmosphere is slow yet unmistakenly brutal that makes a great deathdoom album. Crushing, furious, and oppressive piece of music.

    The riffs were fantastic too.
Colours of Faith is a classic
And this a worthy follow up ov
    Lithuanian Icelandic sack swingin' death!
    Ippocalyptica thumbnail
Ippocalyptica Divergence is an apt title in several respects, mostly because this feels a lot different than the excellent Colours of Faith. While I like this more than some other reviewers on Bandcamp (who have reviewed it elsewhere), I still find it a step down from its predecessor. Instrumental proficiency and production values are still high, but the songwriting is less inspired. I don’t believe that Sisyphean has fallen off, but rather, many other bands who play this style have just risen higher.
    casualty thumbnail
casualty I've been patiently waiting for this one ever since falling in love with Colours of Faith. This album is absolutely crushing and does not disappoint. Favorite track: Stupor Mundi.

  1. State Dependent Memory
    by Unmother
    supported by
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Immense ! Favorite track: State Dependent Memory.
    Donovan Zimmerman thumbnail
Donovan Zimmerman It's like taking Yellow Eyes, Oranssi Pazuzu and Grey Aura and putting them in a blender and this comes out. That is a very, very good thing.
    JT EXTREME thumbnail
JT EXTREME This 2026 album is my kind of black metal - dynamic, powerful, and full of discoveries. Slug's comment (Yellow Eyes, Floods) got me listening and been on constant rotation since. The loins be levitating with this fully immersive experience. Favorite track: Modern Dystopia.

    by Ultima
    supported by
    David Fischer thumbnail
David Fischer Ippo, bmurator: thanks for guiding my hand and bringing me here, would have been a shame to miss out on this one! I am not au fait with the work of D.B., but I hear some snotty punk influence through the raw pummeling of A Labyrinth Beneath Reality. I will acquaint myself with Hässlig and Délirant until the second Ultima release. This is highly incendiary and pleasantly atmospheric black metal with a seething, furious undercurrent. High replay value, and with good headphones – excellent! Favorite track: Katabasis.
    JDMP thumbnail
JDMP raw in all the best possible ways while bringing some interesting stuff to the table. i think one of the standout elements is this particular mid-tempo march throughout the album that not only guides you along our descent into hell, but makes the entire journey enjoyable without exhausting you. fantastic black metal of the highest order. a most excellent offering for the beginning of the year.
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien This is oddly a really relaxing album. I find myself enjoying the atmosphere of the rawness of this in a way that is just making me chill out. Favorite track: Catacombs of the Sun.

The Midnight Toker. A track title The Billow, perfectly demonstrates the sound of this album. It builds to the perfect crescendo you can just feel. Any project that the former members of Isis attach themselves to, I need to own it. These new projects are wonderful extension and arena to expand the ability to build vast soundscapes with such emotion. Favorite track: The Billow.
    desertindecay.com thumbnail
desertindecay.com I am forever chasing music in the vein of Red Sparowes and Pelican but don't find it paired with such gorgeous female vocal often enough - I'd love to find more with her! - fantastic track, and great EP Favorite track: The Left.

    by Sun of Nothing

    Metallurgical Fire thumbnail
Metallurgical Fire Maze reminds me of how much I love The Guilt of Feeling Alive. After more than a decade, Sun of Nothing is back with a highly compelling album that is as technical as it is emotionally moving. They’ll remind you of other bands, but not in the way you might expect. I get a feeling similar to a more depressive Messa, with stronger black metal influences. The two bands are within different genres, but the approach to songwriting is quite similar on their most recent offerings. Favorite track: After the Fall.

    cowcowmoo thumbnail
cowcowmoo This record has such amazing balance. Beautiful melodies without overdoing it, melancholy intertwines with every aspect without being too front and centre, anguish and hopelessness piercing through neither too subtle nor too obvious. Everything feels "just right" and it really resonates with me for all the right reasons. This is the record so many bands try too hard to aim for yet, to Silver Knife, it just seems natural. Thank you for this beautifully haunting album! Favorite track: Restless Blight.
    West Maddox thumbnail
West Maddox Since the debut came out 5 years ago, I have been checking for a new Silver Knife full length every couple months. The guitar tones and riffs that this band produces have an addictive quality that leaves me itching for more. I am so glad they didn't change the tone, it is so perfect. 10/10 album as I always expected was coming with their sophomore release! A fantastic continuation of the first album's sound!
