bobgaines I adore Park Jiha's first two albums, but The Gleam occupies a different space for me. I feel weightless, suspended in a state of perpetual spine tingle. Beautifully composed in her own musical language, Park uses an array of traditional instruments to meditate on light and its meaning in our lives. Favorite track: Light Way.
    cloudrecordings thumbnail
cloudrecordings spacious improvisations/compositions on a bunch of traditional Korean instruments. this gives me the same feeling as listening to Japanese Gagaku music, which i was turned onto by reading it had influence John Cage... the photograph on the cover of this album is of an instrument she plays on the album. i was turned onto this by my former co-worker at wuxtry records, named jarrett... highly recommended!

Jakub Knera the objective here was not avant-garde experimentation as such, but making music for the youngest listeners. As I listen to this compilation, I’m astonished that these compositions were in fact originally intended for children – many a grown-up would be completely hooked.
