    Kelvin (Navajo/Diné) thumbnail
Kelvin (Navajo/Diné) Imagine if the Star Wars alien band in the Tatooine bar played crushing atmospheric death doom. Favorite track: Phlegraean Fields.
    Dan Curhan thumbnail
Dan Curhan Filthy AND progressive?? You've got my attention. This album has some of the most thoughtful and mature songwriting I've heard in a long time - excellent attention to detail, and a satisfying arc. Very, very good.
    Chimplord thumbnail
Chimplord I LOVED Barishi and was crushed when they broke up. I was beyond stoked when I found out about this project.
This is amazing start to finish.
    Album of the year????

brycesilianoff Feels like the moment you realize you just died during an explosion and you’re in the bardo crawling around in the darkness looking for an exit. Hell yeah brother Favorite track: Heaven’s Gate.
    Darknight thumbnail
Darknight Adore this amazing band and take in all the pleasure of this astounding album. There is no other band quite like Portrayal of guilt you'll realise that when your ears are open to the sound of Death From Above🤘 Favorite track: Death From Above.

Grimmrobe oh fuck yes mommy baby needs his bestial face-fucking metal mmm Favorite track: PUTRESCINE ADDICTION.
    nic21dahmer thumbnail
nic21dahmer This album is what suburban moms in the 1980s thought metal sounded like. It's abrasive, fast, pissed off, and brain meltingly heavy. Seriously one of the best metal releases of 2026. This album hates you, but you'll for sure fall in love with it. Favorite track: SAVAGERY EXPOSED.
    zombieshark38 thumbnail
zombieshark38 One of the most miserable and pissed off things i've listen to in recent memory. Feels like trying to die but waking up in the same hell every time. Favorite track: BARREL FULL OF LIMBS.

x-camp0 Immersion at its peak, it is quite a journey to uphold. Favorite track: We’ve Been Here Before.
    RJ thumbnail
RJ Progressive and atmospheric blackened death metal. It’s this kind of genera bending metal that I appreciate the most. Some of the King Crimson-esque passages are a little too disjointed for me but overall this is an impressive release. 7/10 Favorite track: The Color Of My Memory.
    MetalJazzVinyl thumbnail
MetalJazzVinyl An epic journey, blending various styles of metal - it’s captivating & flows. This debut is lit 🔥

JDMP truly a decimating experience. this is evil for sure. i love it.
    positronicping thumbnail
positronicping Filthy, but not in a 'I need a bath after listening to that' kind of way, more like 'I need to gulp down my holy water from the Stolnica sv. Nikolaja'. Deathly black metal perfection direct from the depths. Favorite track: neðan.
    Jono Schneider thumbnail
Jono Schneider Dark madness - evil, even - and so heavy so punches your soul’s teeth in and rearranges your mind’s shards into a smooth surface of brutality. Favorite track: af.

positronicping After inducting you into his dark realm with the intro track, Nuno unleashes both diabolical blackened death barrels across this EP. The sound is immense (those drums!!), and because of Conduit's mastery of dynamics, the immensity envelops you. Perfection. Favorite track: Resonance Mantra.
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator Portuguese Blackened Death Metal. Fantastically dark in every way! Love *all* the vocals... :) I have had this on rotation since I received it which means I definitely want & *need* more please! If this is just the beginning then there are no limits to where this new project can go & I look forward to being here at every step... :) Thanks Sérgio! Highly recommended!!! Favorite track: Conduit to a Threshold.

    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X On one hand, a stress test of one’s tolerance for total sonic depravity, OTOH, an almost unfathomably creative, genuinely sick/enjoyable record feat. what’s gotta be vocal performance of the decade from Zhenya Frolov. I loved the growth and maturity Voidthrone displayed on Metaphysical Degradation (see review on TDW’s listing), but I’m in absolute awe of whatever [waves hands around] tf this is! Favorite track: I-III. First Blood.
    Brent Davis thumbnail
Brent Davis I'm not sure Extreme Metal is supposed to be this much fun - is this sacrilege? Blasphemy?

Ye gods, Voidthrone - what hast thou wrought?!?

Ah, but isn't that the point of Metal? To shock, offend, be adversarial, challenge expectations, et cetera?

Anyway, Dreaming Rat is proof of Metal's truly protean nature - its form can vary so radically it beggars belief...

This is peak Deranged Metal. I hail thee, Voidthrone!
