Despite the fact this record goes from dark to darker, musically it has enough cool little nooks and crannies to sustain interest throughout. In fact, each track is different and is my favorite track at different times. So we get punishing '90s style noise rock (Jesus Lizard, Unsane), but also almost anthemic alt rock, feedback, sax, and bits of metal (Fudge Tunnel, maybe) embedded throughout. The star, of course, is the beautifully unhinged vocal performance.
Favorite track: Carpet Farmer.
