spencer_huggies Crikey! Great pop from NYC, with a refreshingly international approach. Smooth but not too glossy, much more engaging than a microphone being scraped across a bathtub.
    ks6bb thumbnail
ks6bb This is a gorgeous album. Totally now, while reminiscent of the best pop from decades past. Beautiful echoes of St Etienne, Broadcast, Cocteau, Dubstar. Within a pop realm it holds a timeless quality, with its dreamy lo-fi pallet of sounds, infectious bass and drums, and compelling vocals. Each piece creates a world to inhabit. For me these worlds are tinged with a sort of nostalgia for a time that never really was, though they are not limited to this. I return to this album again and again. Favorite track: The Cross of Lorraine.
The Bentley Emerald Learning Resource thumbnail

Ghuughra I love this but don't have the musical vocabulary to explain why. Reverby sad girl echo music. Tickles my funny bone. Favorite track: From Erika.
    good_._sunset thumbnail
good_._sunset Hard to believe I’ve had the pleasure of watching Hewson Chen make music (and occasionally of collaborating with him) for three full decades now. Through many monikers and bands, he’s been a constant inspiration, crafting intimate psychedelic chamber pop wonders. All his projects have been more than the sum of their parts, but to hear how perfectly realized this Lake Ruth album is…it’s a joy. Here’s to 30 more.

Ryan Berkebile This album got me thru the layers of grief I was processing as my life imploded. It was a great balm to come across this work as my life burned to the ground. As I sank into the grief, I began to feel the joy and gratitude for being alive. Jenn Champion was the soundtrack for my spiritual rebirth. Favorite track: Well Played.

Smiley McGrouchpants Jr. Why I moved here. I wrote to Mat from Brown Records, "Carrissa's Wierd came to town, and I've been looking for one of their albums, but I couldn't find a blessed copy anyplace!" (I still have the same e-mail account!) So he sent them to me! When I worked a canvassing job, a bunch of college students went to see "Band of Horses." Nobody knew.
    #iloveyou

    David Lynch-ian ending.

"Memories might last for years ... Birthday cakes, they always taste like crap!" Word.
