mike burgess Fascinating early work that explores texture, rhythm, collages. If I wanted to get someone into Merzbow this would be my recommended entry point. My partner response to me putting this on and telling her who it was = "Merzbow actually made something semi accessible to newbies" and didn't tell me to turn it off.
    Daniel Daniel thumbnail
Daniel Daniel Merzbow's early excursions into the spectrum between bursting-at-the-seams music and non-music meditations on texture. This is primordial soup Merzbow. Favorite track: Collection 010 - E3 B2 + Ah Corps.
    MERZILLA thumbnail
MERZILLA Gorgeous LP reissue box set of essential early Merzbow cassette collection from Urashima. Shut up an get one of the 299 sets before they're sold at stupid prices on the secondary market!!!

David Rankin This music takes me out of my audio comfort zone and transports me to hidden spaces blanded out by everyday life. An absolute treasure chest of moods and sounds and a pleasurable wash for jaded ears.. Not to be missed Favorite track: Pulp.
    Peter Hollo thumbnail
Peter Hollo So, so amazing. Iran is a hotspot of extraordinary music-making. Of course Sote's own music grabbed me way back with the 2-track EP on Warp.
There are artists I know & love here, like the mighty Leila, 9T Antiope (and SarrSew & Nima Aghiani solo), Siavash Amini, Pouya Pour-Amin, Ash Koosha, Aria Rostami - and wonderful artists I'd never heard of: Ixuol, NUM, Mehdi Jalali & many more.
This is an enormous collection of music, but with a depth & breadth that absolutely justifies its almost 4 hours. Favorite track: UKKO.
