  1. Mariana Ingold canta a Leo Maslíah

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) A big thank you to Mariana Ingold for re-releasing this gem! She's obviously reading my mind. OK, OK, it might be just coincidence as well... anyway, this is exactly the album I've been hoping for being offered here next. Leo Maslíah is an exceptional Uruguayan singer-songwriter, pianist, arranger, and writer, who can look back on a long series of albums and writings. His arrangements can be heard on a couple of Mariana Ingold's own songs, e.g. on her brilliant release "Todo depende". On this album, she pays tribute to this iconic artist by performing a selection of his songs. - Music and lyrics by Leo Maslíah, except "Principio de incertidumbre" (Maslíah / Levrero), "Rumores" (Maslíah / Ingold), and "Dónde está tu corazón" (Ingold / Maslíah). Favorite track: Biromes y Servilletas.

Jennifer Jupiter Little known outside Uruguay, Mariana is a diamond of South American music. “Pairing elegant vocals and majestic harmonies with complex arrangements, she pushed the Montevideo-specific sound — loosely termed Candombe fusion.”
Mariana is sheer genius in terms of composition, arrangements, vocals, versatility, adventure, forging her own path(s). She is out there in or near the neighborhood of Nascimento, Gismonti, Juana Molina. Easy to get hooked, very recommended. Favorite track: Co-autoría.

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Wow, my wish came true! This is sort of a delayed christmas gift to me. In my comment to "Cambio de clima", I wrote that I'm hoping for a rerelease of "Todo depende", and swoosh... here it is! Entirely written by Mariana Ingold, this is one of the most stunning albums in her back catalog, and an excellent aural document of contemporary folk music made in Uruguay. Favorite track: Sin comentarios.
