Shayne Dey Solace are an all time band for me and when it looked like the band was done a decade or so ago I was devastated. They returned with ‘The Brink’ 7 years back with new singer Justin Goins and now we have ‘Fading Failing Ruin’. I loved ‘The Brink’ but FFR surpasses it in every way. It’s enormous in size and weight. Riffs are endless, solos are everywhere but the songs remain the focal point. And Justin makes this his own, emerging from Jason’s massive shadow. Undeniably AOTY. Favorite track: Ridden.

Dave Outstanding! I mean where to begin with this? Here's one; it is bastard heavy! You've got the grooves, the Doom, the swirling riffs, the riffs man!!! And here's another thing, where else are you hearing lyrics like this? Not many places in Hard Rock or Metal. Luke This album rules! It amalgamates a lot of the exciting things that are happening in the current black metal milieu – driving vampiric raw bm, Erech Leleth (Ancient Mastery / Carathis) bouncy black n roll, and some trhä weirdness – but never feels anything less than fresh and interesting. donedirtcheap This album is absolutley great, I've been letting it play for weeks. It has it's simplistic moments combined with some real complex techniques. The drums are super powerful, very distinct and hard hitting. The guitar riffs are mean, heavy and at times dissonant which gives the songs a hypnotic relationship with the listener. The lyrics are more than inspiring. I give this album a 4.5 star rating out of 5. The album is a dark journey though our sick society pulled down by the current so black. Favorite track: Low.

Daniel Peers Jaws is possibly the angriest song I've heard in years!! So stoked to hear this album from a great band.

Jacob I'm guilty of sleeping on bands based on the name. This is certainly one band I wish I wouldn't have slept on. This album is outstanding from start to finish. The blistering tempo transisitions to slow nearly ambient sections, with moody harmonica parts. Everything that shouldn't work, Gillian Carter just pieces together seamlessly. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for new music. Favorite track: A Complete Disconnection.more...
