    Charlie Moonbeam thumbnail
Charlie Moonbeam Acoustic folk, big heart, Congolese breeze
    agutterfan thumbnail
agutterfan I'd never heard of this artist until it was a new & notable on Bandcamp. Taken from old 78s so there's a warm scratchy sound and of course it's just a voice and a guitar. You don't need to be able to speak Swahili, Sanga & Kiyeke or French. His humanity comes out in his vocals, and his finger picking guitar is intricate and gifted without being showy or ostentatious. A modest man who recorded some great songs, a delightful listen, and a great influence on African guitarists who followed. Favorite track: Masanga.
    VWLS thumbnail
VWLS Great release. Masanga has never sounded so warm and full, especially on the vinyl pressing here. The addition of some great unreleased material is a wonderful bonus. Great material and great mastering. Thanks!

    T. Super The music is genius. The main melody perfectly balanced/made more complex, interesting by the underlying counter-melody. My favorite song will surely change again and again, love them all. Favorite track: The Old Times Came to My Mind (ትዝ አለኝ የጥንቱ).

Jason Boardman Killer compilation of early Bovell jams created for the Sufferer Sound System & an opportunity (at last) to own the killer dub of the Janet Kay - Silly Games that Dennis has been exclusively rinsing in his sets. Favorite track: Game Of Dubs.

Cone Skee Mask shared this on Twitter one day. Reminded me of Jan Jelinek so I figured "why not?".

Also having both tracks at 2 different speeds as if you were buying the vinyl is an interesting touch. Favorite track: Kenno 45rpm.

  4. The Colours Of Rubab
    by Gulab Afridi

    Smekermann thumbnail
Smekermann An awesome showcase for the rubab, this album just flies by. Gulab Afridi's playing seems to effortlessly elicit one's attention and keep it snared throughout the album's playtime. Don't sleep on this.

Edit: after spending more time with this release, I can safely say this album is incredible. Afridi’s improvisation is spotless, the alaps are short but good and do a wonderful job in setting up the raags, and the whole thing is just razor sharp. Is it too early to call this a modern classic? Favorite track: Raag Bhairavi.

    UNBELIEVEABLE!
Not only is the music the DEEPEST and most SPIRITUAL jazz we think ever performed at Ronnie Scotts, it is also one of the best live recordings that we have ever heard - fantastically mastered.
This really is an amazing, understated deep album - we think every home should have one!

mount elie if i could live in the riff at 0:21 for the rest of my life i would Favorite track: Banshee.
    Levrikon thumbnail
Levrikon If 'Dissed and Dismissed' mined '70s power pop for its influences, 'Confront the Truth' is working in a '60s framework. Molina is flexing his inner Lennon and it makes for a soft, gorgeous contemplative album without a wasted second. Favorite track: Hung Up On The Dream.
    Joseph Prat thumbnail
Joseph Prat Tony Molina makes the Beatles look like chumps and he could out shred them any day. Favorite track: Banshee.

Scorber23 YESSSS! JOHNBOY absolutely melt faces! they were an amazing band that some may not have had a chance to hear. If you are a fan of 90's noise-rock music, JOHNBOY will be right up your alley. I bought 'Pistol Swing' on a whim back when it came out because it was on TRANCE SYNDICATE RECORDS
(i was already obsessed with Ed Hall and Cherubs) naturally they became a favorite band of mine after first listen. I saw JOHNBOY play live once, during the Claim Dedications Lp (tour) it was awesome! STOKED🔥 Favorite track: Driving Reservoirs Up Noses.

    Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar) thumbnail
Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar) I really thought there was no room for something different in the ballpark of dub techno, but I reckon Sa Pa has done it. My memory of the previous album was it alternated beatless experiments and heavy dub tech kind of beats. This brings it all together at once, for the first 3. To my mind the elements often don’t sit “right” together - and somehow it really, really works! Favorite track: Boredom Memory (Extended mix).
    8R4M thumbnail
8R4M dub like the inside of a beating heart. visceral, booming, alive.
    Finn of Tomland thumbnail
Finn of Tomland This gem has an overall murky and dense Dub/Ambient feeling to it.
It's like the perfect immersive soundtrack for warm but hazy memories...
    Highly recommended.
