    shortfall thumbnail
shortfall Brilliant examples of how modular doesn't just do random bleeps and noise. Ally creates great music from small setups that you actually want to listen to! Great work 😎 Favorite track: Orange Crush & King Blueberry.

Awad 14 of these 16 songs need to be played live on this next tour is all I'm saying!! There's some real magic in these songs - it's an exceptional record Favorite track: We Wrote Our Names in the Dust.
    Kolina Lind thumbnail
Kolina Lind Paradises is very dreamy & ethereal with a rich smoky synth atmosphere, frequently slower bpm with the addition of gorgeous minor chords throughout for an unforgettable melancholy effect. If you love Gravity the Seducer or Time’s Arrow this is reminiscent of those lush dream soundscapes. Ladytron never disappoints-Pure synth joy! Favorite track: A Death in London.
    ultor3 thumbnail
ultor3 Paradises is crazy beautiful, even for Ladytron. It could be their best album to date. Yes, the songs are danceable as advertised, but that does not stop them from being complex pieces of finest art. And it flows and is very coherent in the way that Gravity the Seducer does, but it's somehow even dreamier than it, reminding me of Vangelis's Spiral or Juno Reactor's Contact, and of the science fiction movies from when humanity used to dream about the future rather than dread it. Favorite track: Solid Light.
    Ross Wilson thumbnail
Ross Wilson Cannot get enough of 'I Believe In You', it's hypnotic. Love this, can't wait for the full album release. Favorite track: I Believe In You.

  1. Snare
    by Battery Operated Orchestra

    aw thumbnail
aw Great synths, strong melodies, emotional songs, excellent lyrics (and I am hard to please), with an attention to detail in pacakging too. This is very, very good. Favorite track: Poliakov.
    meepgorl thumbnail
meepgorl Snare is peak (modern) synth-pop. Featuring a unique theme and very polished sound that makes it an endlessly relisten-able album, it certifies Battery Operated Orchestra as a fresh indie band worthy of your attention. Favorite track: Bella.
    slowmo thumbnail
slowmo Another super album from BOO. As with their earlier work, it features beautifully crafted textures and beats, but the mood is often darker and more sparse than before. That said, who could resist the fun of Charismatic Megafauna? Brigitte's vocals are particularly beautiful on this album and the mix of voice within synth space always interesting. The instrumental Borders (Fall) is a lovely closing piece. Favorite track: Under The River.
    Jon Harper thumbnail
Jon Harper The sweet spot between the cold synths of The Human League and early Depeche Mode Casiotone synth pop yet feels so current. Can't think of higher praise despite it sounding like Alan Partridge 🤔, album pre ordered and can't wait. Favorite track: Perfect Wreck.

  2. SNARED (The Remixes)
    by Battery Operated Orchestra

    Sonarfreq thumbnail
Sonarfreq Reminiscent of late 70's / early 80's Synth Pop Electronica at it's finest. Clever arrangements and beautiful vocals lovingly produced. Favorite track: Bella (Chicky and Coco Remix).
    bongosodij thumbnail
bongosodij Love the whole album ,so difficult to pick a favourite. The vocals on this track, bitcrushed and fading out is really cool. Favorite track: Poliakov (midierror Remix).
    meepgorl thumbnail
meepgorl As per usual with remix albums, SNARED is a great companion piece to its more fleshed out counterpart but doesn't exactly hold up as its own entity. That said, the songs remixed here are still really freakin' good and the remixes bring new life to them. All in all, it's worth listening to if you want a good idea of what BOO's style sort of sounds like or if you loved SNARE.

As it stands, I would recommend this, but as a free album (that you can also pay for), there's no reason NOT to grab this. Favorite track: Poliakov (midierror Remix).
