Scotty I can only tell you what this record makes me feel and reminds me of. It’s a lot of things, including perfect. Do you like blenders? It’s like a smoothie version of Big Star, Dinosaur Jr and a dash of some shoegaze (think the Stella Luna Stargazer ep) but you drink it thru a straw that is coated in star dust from the future where this record brought about world peace.more...
alexthedrummer Is this John's greatest album? I think it may be...certainly his best with Stewart & Henry Pack. Phenomenal record of heartfelt songs & performances. My favorite this year!

BobBeta In a word: Introspective. I like music that doesn't get old and lyrics that makes you think without depressing you: this ticks both boxes. There's nothing shallow about these albums. It's Bob Dylan meets Bass Guitar. The Call should have gotten more airplay in the 80's and 90s and when his remastered set came out it jumped to the top of my must have list.
oldkidd There is no argument that these 2 releases were The Call at their best. The reissues sound great but are not technically remastered. Without getting too audio snobby, let's call them sonically enhanced by increasing the output levels. Where this package misses is the lack of liner notes and extra tracks (or demos) that likely exist and wouldn't have impacted the final price or disc space to include them.more...
