stoneja Back to the past. The decline and fall of chivalric Byzantium makes a fascinating backdrop for music of the current era. Crypt Sermon rise to the conceptual challenge, amassing enough candles to illuminate an entire metal church where Power-influenced Trad Doom is daily worshipped. Brooks Wilson has the clean and cutting voice of a prophet; Jansson and Lipczynski wield their guitars with the mortal efficiency of Knights Templar.

spacciathemax Ciao a tutti! Let us clear all doubt, Crypt Sermon are not Satanists: they use the Bible as a literary metaphor. Their Epic Doom Metal, dark and pessimistic, explores human suffering and doubts without worshipping the devil. In the lyrics they criticize religion and fear death, showing a vision devoid of any hope. On the contrary, remembering that He is risen erases in me, when I am aware of it, every fear of facing existence, convictions that every person carries forward in life. Favorite track: Temple Doors.
    Bryce C. thumbnail
Bryce C. Good god, the riffs. These guys are the real deal. They have a very professional sound, almost as if they’ve been crafting epic doom metal passages since the early days. If you dig the likes of Candlemass and especially Solitude Aeternus, this comes highly recommended! Favorite track: Into the Holy of Holies.
    David Elder thumbnail
David Elder One of the best epic doom metal bands. Favorite track: Heavy Riders.

    Nickie Harte Kelly thumbnail
Nickie Harte Kelly Neomedieval folk dungeon synth from an anonymous Salt Lake City composer and musician. There are no credits, but obviously, synths play a part in creating the imaginary worlds this artist conjures up. Plenty of plinkiness here, in a most delightful way, could be harp, harpsichord, or hammered dulcimer, or maybe all three. Let yourself be enchanted. Favorite track: The Knight Of The Elves Blows His Horn.
    iokanaan thumbnail
iokanaan Encore une masterclass pour ce bon vieux Fief ! A écouter sans modération :) Favorite track: Moss Shod Battlements.
    Dave Aftandilian thumbnail
Dave Aftandilian Enchanting melodies that carry the listener far beyond the mundane to explore worlds of starry-sparkling magic and mystery. I love the almost hammer dulcimer-like percussive feel to the keyboards, and appreciate even more the lightness listening to them brings my spirit in these dark end of empire days.
