Kevin Warsh
Kevin Warsh is the next Federal Reserve chair.[1] He was confirmed by the Senate to a four year term on May 13, 2026 which will begin on May 15, 2026.[2]
Powell was nominated for the position by President Donald Trump (R) on March 4, 2026 and confirmed by the Senate on May 13, 2026.[2] He succeeded Jerome Powell, who was appointed by Trump and reappointed by President Joe Biden (D). Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs held a confirmation hearing for Powell on April 21, 2026. The committee approved Powell's nomination for chair of the Federal Reserve on April 29, 2026 by a vote of 13 to 11 along party lines with Republicans voting in favor and Democrats voting against.[6]
