Anyway, let's start with the symptoms first.
I had... well, my family had 4 desktops at home, all 5 years old or more.
Arnicil: half-dead. took me 10 min to boot to Win 2k. So I took her HDD out. CD-ROM dead.
Night: Dead. When I pushed the power button, I could hear the fan spinning... but that's it, nothing else happened. My uncle took her back.
One in Basement: Some important component to boot to Windows was missing, cannot boot. CD-ROM dead.
One in 2nd floor: Same as Night.
And today, I got one old desktop from my boss in the Vegetable Seed Company, or some sort. (I worked at her house, packing vegetable seeds)
So... I decided to do some arrangement today...
I took Arnicil and the one in 2nd floor's heart... I mean HDD out, using the CD-ROM of the new desktop (5 years old, named her Reimu), trying to install Ubuntu.
Well, some important component to boot to Windows was missing in Reimu, too, so I installed Ubuntu in. Success.
The update took an hour, as usual.
Then, I installed Ubuntu to the HDD from the 2nd floor (now named Marisa)...
Primary Hard Drive: HDD error.
Sec Slave: ATAPI incompetible.
WTF?
So looked it up. Oh.... ok.... yeah, the head for Pri HDD is different than Reimu's. It's the middle head, not the top one.
rearranged....
Primary Hard Drive: S.M.A.R.T condition BAD. Recommand backing up....
what...
so I unplugged the heart from Arnicil and the one from basement (Nameless). Now it worked.
And for some reasons, whenever I plugged the other 2 HDD, Marisa didn't work. So I hooked up Reimu and those 2, trying to format the HDD.
Success for Arnicil...
Nameless.... well, whenever it's trying to load to the Ubuntu page... a flood of error showed up. I decided the HDD was dead.
So.. now Arnicil and Marisa were connected together, inside Nameless's body (And Nameless now has no body... not a Nobody)... And then the Wire network didn't work. It worked for Reimu, becuase I updated Ubuntu from there.
But for some reason, Marisa just didn't want to hook up to internet...
I guess it's the network card? I don't know. But probably trying to use either Marisa's or Arnicil's body tomorrow.
BTW, Nameless's CPU board cut my ring finger. A huge gap. Ouch.
I think I'll have to rename the computers, now... since I created a monster from several dead bodies... i mean dead computers
