Review of Lost 6.06 - 'Sundown'

So, last night our antenna fritzed out, and I had a bit of a tantrum and was finally like, 'I'M NOT WATCHING THIS EPISODE LIKE THIS,' and promptly turned the television off and sulked for fifteen minutes.  Haha.  On the plus side, it gives me an extra day to write about 'Sundown', which I've obviously not done.

This episode was fucking scary.  Claire and Sayid are going to give me nightmares, I shit you not.  Actually the first time I watched this episode, I thought it was amazing.  The second time round I got a bit bored, and I don't know if I was distracted or what.  Anyway, here's my list of stupid observations, haha.

1.  Like I said, Claire was creepy as all hell.  Emilie de Ravin, can I apologise to you about how I don't think you're good at playing crazy?  You play crazy really well.  Like serial killer crazy.  I would not want to meet Claire in a dark alley, let me tell you.  Her rendition of 'Catch a Falling Star' while she was sitting in the pit made me want to cry.  In fear.

2.  I guess Sayid is dead now?  Or evil?  Whatever.  I stopped caring about Sayid in season 2.  The 'tortured torturah' storyline just got a bit old for me, especially since it's been the same thing every season.  The first time was fine and interesting, but then we see him do it again and again and again.  And I mean, Sayid is still the most badass person on the island, but until I see him breakdance on someone's neck again, I'm bored by him.  Also it pisses me off how he blames Ben for making him kill people.  HELLO SAYID, YOU WERE THE ONE WHO INSISTED THAT YOU KILL PEOPLE FOR BEN, AND WHEN BEN SAID 'WE'RE DONE KILLING PEOPLE' YOU DIDN'T WANT TO STOP.

3.  Miles got a bit more screen time.  Hooray!

4.  I'd really got fond of Lennon.  Dogen was growing on me too.  Well, I'm watching Deadwood, so I guess I can see John Hawkes in that.

5.  Ben ran away from Sayid like a frightened rabbit.  It made me laugh.

6.  Also, this is more inspired by what I saw of 6.07, but can Ilana fucking die already?

7.  Can Smokey not kill candidates?

8.  Is Kate on Team Smokey now?  How does Smokey feel about that?  Chris and I can't really agree on his facial expression.  I think he's more just flat out surprised, but Chris thinks he looks pleasantly surprised.

9.  I think this episode had my favourite allusion to season 1.  Quite a few episodes in season 1 ended with a nice slow-mo musical montage.  Well, I loved how 'Sundown' had a terrifying and horrible slow-mo musical montage.

Yeah, I guess that's it.  I could probably think of more to say but I interrupted my novel writing to do this, and I'm anxious to get back to it.  Also I need to finish my fic for lostfichallenge before my in-laws come on Friday afternoon.
