Generated from the text of customer reviewsThis is my third purchase in the Mario&Luigi series. I've bought Partners in Time, and Bowser's Inside Story. This is a great addition, with a unique storyline and playstyle, while still keeping a lot of the parts that I love from the other games.
Basic summary: The whole crew is invited to a new paradise island "Pi'illo", where a whole resort has been built. The previous inhabitants of the island were the Pi'illo people, but all that's left is ruins and some mysteries. Of course, upon arriving at the island, Princess Peach is KIDNAPPED!! Luckily, you can save her easily, but you discover something about the mystery behind the island, and as Mario and Luigi you must save the island from great evil!
Unique Playstyle introduced: As part of saving the island, you must enter the dream world. To do this, Luigi takes a nap! Mario enters the dream world and plays with "Dreamy Luigi". Dreamy Luigi is able to duplicate himself, as well as manipulate things in the dream world. New bros attacks, new functions (using the 'r' and 'l' buttons). Overall, very easy to learn, mildly difficult (enough to be fun but not frustrating).
New things I like:
1. "retry in easy mode" if you lose a boss battle
2. 3D! There's some attacks that occur in 3D, and they are well implemented- easy and fun. For example, in the dream world, you might be attacked by a group of 20 enemies (remember, Luigi can clone himself so this isn't a problem!). They might split up, and throw things all you from all directions (N, S, E, W). The 3D allows you to hit them with the hammer and send them back.
Things that were better in previous series:
1. Partners in time was way cuter
2. Bowser's Inside Story had a hilarious villain/storyline.
Things that are still in that are great:
1. regular save points (in fact, you can save anytime in this version)
2. Level up system- even if you don't know what you're doing, you can have fun leveling up
3. Instructions, hints and tips - helpful but not overwhelming
4. overall playstyle- still awesome.
Who should play this game: Anyone 8+. The villain isn't scary and there's lots of things for kids to enjoy, but with the 3D and how difficult the attacks are, I wouldn't recommend this for younger children. Adults will definitely enjoy as well- it is not the most challenging game you will ever play, but it is cute and fun and relaxing.
If I haven't played a game in the series before, can I play this one? Yes- the game will explain the playstyle. I would recommend you buy Bowser's Inside Story first though- it is just as good of a game, and its cheaper right now.
Would you buy it again? Absolutely.
I hope you enjoy it as much as me!
This 3DS entry of the Mario & Luigi RPG series brings plenty of new stuff to the table, while enhancing stuff that was present before. If you've played Bowser's Inside Story, this plays pretty much like that game, but on steroids.
Whereas the previous one focused on Bowser, this one focuses on Luigi, though not to the same degree as Bowser in the previous game. The Mario Bros. travel between the Real World and the Dream World to battle foes both familiar and new, and each one features their own battle systems and boss battles. Dream World requires Luigi to sleep, so when you go inside them, you get "Dreamy Luigi" instead, who offers much more ambitious moves and concepts than standard Luigi, at the cost of him not being present in battle... at least as a separate character. Instead, Dreamy Luigi will fuse with Mario and enhance Mario's natural stats, and this also gives Mario a new host of "Luiginary" attacks that can be learnt throughout the story. Bros Attacks also make a comeback, but in a reduced and slightly different format than before. This time, each bro has five unique Bro Attacks(Though one is shared between the two, the attack features different properties), which makes for deeper strategy.
Enemy and Boss patterns are also stepped up, becoming more difficult than ever. Speaking of difficulty, they've finally added a Hard Mode to the game! The catch is, you need to beat the game at least once before unlocking it, much like the Master Quest mode for Ocarina of Time 3D.
It's been ten years since SuperStar Saga, and we're on the fourth installment with Dream Team. Having played all four games at least three times each, I can safely say that this one is the most ambitious, and in some regards can be considered the strongest entry. What may turn some people off from it compared to other installments however is the excessive amount of tutorials, even in some instances where the game may ask you to recall a tutorial you've already viewed a few minutes prior. This was done to help new players, of course, but it makes you wonder why they aren't at least skippable. For some of them it's understandable since they're usually introducing new concepts and game mechanics(Which happens frequently throughout the game), but for material that's known from previous games, it can be a bit grating.
There is also the matter of length. As I mentioned in the title of the review, this game is the longest entry thus far. It took me 33 hours to reach and defeat the final boss, as well as rescue every P'illo(Which is needed to get Mario's last bro attack). There was about an hour or two where I mindlessly explored or got lost, so if we were to factor that, you can expect the game to last you at least 30-40 hours depending on your play-style. That's all well and good, but it might be jarring for folks who are used to the 20 hour lengths of SuperStar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story, or the 12-15 hour length of Partners In Time. This, however, could be seen as a blessing for newcomers, and at the very least, you know you'll be getting your money's worth with this title even at the full $39.99 MSRP.
I was VERY surprised how good this game was because I was SLIGHTLY let down by the previous game, Bowser's Inside Story which was a good gameTbut just SHORT of making the game AMAZING! But DREAM TEAM DELIVERS! This game has been developed and worked on for over 3-4 YEARS! No wonder this game packs quite a punch and TONS of stuff to do. Great and FUNNY story line and who knows, this game may even be your most favorite of the series! I always said to myself that "Superstar Saga" the first Mario and Luigi game was my absolute favorite but Dream Team is quickly becoming the favorite and may replace the "SuperStar Saga" position if this keeps up! Clocked in about 25 hours so far and I am STILL playing because there is still SO much more to do! Anyways, BUY THIS GAME and if you don't, you might as well just sell your Nintendo 3DS. NO WAIT! DON'T SELL IT! buy this and play it!
I'll just be brief. This game is fantastic. The visuals are great to look at, (best 3d on the system, hands down. almost never clips for me) colorful, interesting environments abound, no framerate issues, plenty of variety, it's just all fantastic. The skill-based RPG combat system is very polished and most enemies have several different types of attacks that keep battles fresh as you move on through the story. The story is about as complicated as you'd expect (not very) and is definitely the weak point of the game. However, I will say that if you bought a Mario game for the story, you've made a mistake.
Basically the gameplay is solid, the environment is interesting, the characters are charming and the music is fantastic. A completely solid game, and one of my favorites on any console that I've played in a long time.
New, in original package and on working condition
I really wanted to give this a five star rating, but just couldn't. As others have stated the tutorials and dialogue sometimes get in the way of the game.
The game can be very long (for me 42 hours to defeat the game) and toward the end seems to drag on forever (fight, win, repeat). Some of the time factor is likely predicated on the choices one makes when ranking up (e.g. choosing the fast EXP option would likely make the game go faster as you would have higher stats and access to better gear faster) and certainly in the game itself.
The puzzles throughout the game were great and added a nice change to the pace of the game. The variety of logic and timing involved in the games made them just as challenging as fighting a boss at times.
Getting used to the timing and touchy nature of the motion sensor in the game unit took some time and made several of the fights (such as the Zeekeper and Dreamy Bowser) frustrating.
The music is pretty good for a video game and defeating the game the first time through unlocks a jukebox that allows you to play the music like an MP3 player - pretty trick little addition to the game.
All in all a good game in the Mario series.
this game is for kids. I played the entire thing because i bought it so I figured I better get my moneys worth, but damn is this boring. It is a quality game overall, but just not designed for anyone over the age of 15. The dialogue, the combat, the visual design, the story, all of it is just bland and boring boring and more boring. I loved Superstar Saga, that was a better written game with more creative graphics, but this is really mind numbing.
I have played all the Mario and Luigi games, but have never finished any of them. They always start out really fun but then they just drag on and I lose interest in them. That is not true for this game. I honestly believe this one is the best one in the series. It kept my interest for the whole entire game, and it took me 45 hours to beat it! The music is incredible and the story is new and exciting.
If you're debating on whether or not to buy this game like I was, you should try it. I think any Mario fan will be pleasantly surprised by this game.
Also, the tutorials are not anywhere as bad as people are making them out to be. You can skip through a lot of them and for the ones you can't skip don't take up a lot of time.
Arrived before Christmas:) Very prompt. It was a gift and my daughter loves the game.
Me encanta
Mario and Luigi dream team and Mario and Luigi paper jam are two games and both have different difficulty levels. Both are for 3DS. Mario and Luigi paper jam is perfect for beginners and Mario and Luigi dream team is perfect for advanced players. If you don’t know how to defeat giga bowser final giant boss fight don’t play Mario and luigi dream team or you will rage quit like me and play Mario and luigi paper jam. Choice is yours…what you want to buy…Dream team or Paper jam. There are also more 3DS games to play, like Mario and Luigi super star saga, super Mario 3d land new Super Mario bros 2 (a platformer game), puzzles and dragon super Mario edition.
I was afraid this may be the pal version of the game
But it's NTSC.. Works great with Canadian 3DS Handhelds.
Una maravilla encontrar juegos como este al mejor precio, otras tiendas te lo dan al doble, y aqui aprovechas hasta envio gratis
