The glass slips out of your hand. Our knowledge of the universe, that has been stored in our brains from a previous dilemma of the same proprieties, tells us that the structure of this glass is near its end. Coming to this realization with in fractions of a second, time slows down to almost a halt, as you create a freeze frame and contemplate the fragility of the object. Many scenarios pass by consciousness. Do I attempt to catch it? How must this be done? Maybe I should lessen its fall by letting it collide with my foot first, diverting the original kinetic force to hopefully a less dramatic collision. Maybe it is dense enough to with stand the amount of momentum created by gravity and distance to with stand the impact. This all is simple math and simple physics. Are brains try to compute them but usually the arithmetic is too devious to calculate in less then a second.

But maybe you really just want to see it break... The idea of glass shattering is simple. We see it often in our brief yet exhausting stay on this planet. It is almost always seen as a negative, because it is the destruction of a creation. Well this sentiment is purely human. Why not look onto such a moment with exhilaration. Now the numbers are much larger. Now every imperfection in the glass is taken into context. The position of the glass in which contact is made, rotation of the glass, and temperature all come into play. The numbers now shatter into almost endless physical remainders.

We look at the branches and stems of a tree and we see it as innumerable beauty. All forming different out comes and bloom this complexity of beauty. Well when I see a glass fall, I see the same beauty. Think of the journey that has been set before this moment. From the start of the universe, fusion of certain atoms to create larger and more complex atoms, to changing from billions of years as sand as earth progressed and then man came and scooped it up heated it to form an elegant human creation to hold liquids, and now you see it before you in once again shattering into innumerable beauty. I invite you to join me in looking at world and your life in such a way. Embrace enlightenment.
