Some iPhone models will even go to Daisy, our disassembly robot that can efficiently recover the resources inside.3

Trading in your device is as easy as buying a new one. We’ll give you a prepaid trade-in kit or you can take it to an Apple Store. We’ll either give you instant credit towards the purchase of a new product or send your device on to our recyclers.

  • It’s a device trade-in programme offered by Apple. We work with trade-in partners who give you an estimated value based on the device information you provide. If you accept the quote, our partner will send you shipping materials (at no cost to you), and you can send in your device.
    Our partner will inspect your device, and if it is in the condition stated, you’ll receive an Apple Store Gift Card for the quoted amount. If the device is not in the stated condition, our partner will send you a new quote. You can either accept the new quote or have your device sent back (at no cost to you).

  • Yes. You can recycle any Apple device (including devices from Apple-owned brands) at any Apple Store and on apple.com for free. That includes your batteries and old electronic products as well as free, on-demand packaging recycling for our commercial, education, and institutional customers. Everything we accept is recycled responsibly.

  • When we receive your device, our partners will inspect it thoroughly. If the device is in good working condition, it can be refurbished so it can go on to a new owner. If it’s not in working order, it will be recycled in an environmentally responsible way through one of our partners.

  • Generally it takes 2–3 weeks. But the sooner you send us your device, the sooner we can verify its condition and process your trade-in refund or gift card.

  • You can see the status of your trade-in by following the link in your confirmation email.

  • Our trade-in partner will inspect your device. If it’s in the condition described, you will receive the quoted value in the form of an Apple Store Gift Card. If it’s not in the condition described, a new quote will be sent to you. You will have the option to either accept this quote and receive an Apple Store Gift Card or reject it and have your device sent back to you for free.

  • Anyone who is at least 18 years of age and resides within the UK can take part in the program.

  • The estimated trade-in value is valid for 14 days, and we encourage you to send the device to us within this timeframe to ensure getting this value. If you require additional time, you have the option to extend the quote for an additional 7 days through the Self-Service site: appleonlineuk.mpxltd.co.uk/login.aspx.   • Each device is covered up to a maximum value of £100 per claim if anything happens to your device whilst being shipped to Brightstar, providing that you have taken the necessary precautions to package the device correctly and used the tracked service.   • No. Old appliances, batteries, as well as all the products which are marked with a cross on top of a rubbish bin with wheels must be collected and recycled separately. There are important materials in old equipment which are recycled separately in a certain way. These raw materials can be used as new material. Some electronic equipment may contain potentially harmful substances which must be disposed of carefully. Apple bears responsibility for the environment and is a member of the recycling programme, just like many other major electrical appliance manufacturers in the UK.

    The symbol means that according to local laws and regulations, your product and/or its battery should be disposed of separately from household waste. When this product reaches its end of life, take it to a collection point designated by local authorities. The separate collection and recycling of your product and/or its battery at the time of disposal will help conserve natural resources and ensure that it is recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment.   • It depends on what you buy and how you pay for it. If you buy an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch and pay in full, we’ll apply a refund to your original payment method up to the total purchase price. For any remaining amount, you’ll receive an Apple Store Gift Card via email.

You can take any Apple device to any UK Apple Store and we’ll recycle it responsibly and free of charge. You can bring devices of other brands on a like-for-like basis and we’ll recycle them too. We also accept any small electronic device and battery without purchase of a new product or battery.
Alternatively, you can recycle waste electronic equipment free of charge at local authority collection points.

  2. You are solely responsible for removing all data, including confidential and personal data, from the device before sending it to us. Neither Apple nor the approved partner accepts any responsibility or liability for any lost files or data.
  3. Daisy is currently hard at work in the U.S. and will begin disassembly in other countries soon.
