As the world edges towards 2030 deadlines, the scaling up of clean energy and widespread electrification offers a clear path to cost-effective decarbonisation. However, there is still a significant gap between today’s action on net-zero pledges and limiting 1.5 degrees of warming. Continued and profound shocks to the global energy market have highlighted the fragility of the current system and have stoked a high inflationary environment for financiers and investors. In response, governments continue to push protectionist policies, threatening to slow progress on an integrated global transition. Can the energy industry succeed in adapting during these volatile times to drive decarbonisation, enhance energy security, and capitalise on the profit-boosting opportunities of the green economy?
Now in its 9th year, the Financial Times’ Energy Transition Summit will once again bring together key leaders from across the energy industry who are driving transformation. Through the expert moderation of the FT’s most senior journalists, the summit will provide critical insights and practical takeaways on navigating a complex geopolitical backdrop and accelerating a secure, affordable and sustainable energy transition.
