I am a CPA and use Proseries, and have used it since way back in th...e early 90's when they began. Their rates go up quite a bit every year, but I stick with them, and rarely call for customer support. On Monday, we completed a tax return and sent it to the client, who then returned the Form 8879 so we could e-file. Meanwhile, we had an update to the software. When my assistant went in to e-file the return, it had a different refund than the original. Upon further review, there was a form that completely stopped working and had no numbers for totals. As such, the return had "errors" which also precludes us from e-filing, as does simply over-riding those fields. I just spent an hour fiddling with it, and another hour and 15 minutes on the phone with Proseries who admits the update was the issue, but did assist me in forcing the return to file with over-rides on those fields. I want an USB card reader/swiper that connects directly with a sales transaction and prints out an invoice and receipt.
