US Investment Editor

​Eric Platt is US Investment Editor for the Financial Times and contributes to Due Diligence, the paper's premium deals briefing. In his role, Platt leads the paper's coverage of the asset management industry in the US, with a particular focus on giants including BlackRock. He also spearheads the FT's coverage of private credit, which has grown in size and influence following the 2008 financial crisis, and helps oversee the news organisation's reporting on traditional debt markets.
Platt also covers Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway. He was previously the FT's US markets editor, senior US corporate finance correspondent, mergers and acquisitions correspondent, capital markets correspondent and a founding reporter on fastFT.
He joined the FT in 2013 from Reuters. He graduated from New York University.
