Hi again, @Udhy. Unfortunately the issue returned after about 12 hours using the computer, so I'm guessing it's not the NVRAM. I've never had this happen since I have this computer and now it's happened 3 times in 2 days. Somehow I feel like it must be connected to the fact I'm suing the HDMI output for a second display. Although I can't understand why that would happen...QuestionerNo7– QuestionerNo72020-02-01 01:04:58 +00:00Commented Feb 1, 2020 at 1:04

@Udhy It's interesting that I'm having a VERY similar problem - every once in a while (could be after days) my MBP will suddenly act as if the left shift key is stuck in the same way (it's clearly not and it toggles, but inverse to normal). Additionally, the other keys stop working (trackpad/top bar are fine). Reboot, and it's like it never happened. I use a Logitech mouse (via their Unifying receiver) and rarely a keyboard (usually not til this happens) but which is normally off. I suspect it's some driver in the stack that's doing this, but it's so rare I haven't narrowed it down.MartyMacGyver– MartyMacGyver2020-09-25 18:06:56 +00:00Commented Sep 25, 2020 at 18:06

NVRAM/PRAM doesn't have anything to do with keyboard issues. Do not copy-paste bullshit here. This is Ask Different, not Apple Support Forum.Sukka– Sukka2025-10-25 15:03:21 +00:00Commented Oct 25 at 15:03

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. macbook-pro), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
