The Apple Independent Software Developers Conference, also just called 1983 Developers' Conference,[1] was a computer conference and event that was hosted by Apple Computer from August 8 to 11, 1983 at the Dunfey Hotel in San Mateo, California.[2]
Events
Newly-appointed CEO John Sculley stated that Apple's goal was to pursue being the best over market share. Tim Gill of Quark demonstrated Catalyst, a Macintosh-style GUI for the Apple II series that competed with MouseDesk.[3]
The last day, August 11, was focused on the new Lisa computer and its graphical operating system in a dedicated "Lisa Day". During a discussion about the development of QuickDraw, speaker Bill Atkinson recalled how Apple co-founder Steve Jobs convinced him to create a RoundRects routine to give the user interface a "warm and friendly" appearance.[2]
