Glee 5x19 Picspam
So, I really enjoyed that episode! Not just because Chris wrote it, but I'm fairly sure a lot of the things I liked were his doing so that's part of it ;)

What location is this? Is this new? I'm not sure where they are. Also why is the dude beside Kurt sitting between tables apparently he has no concept of personal space.

Kurt looks so done. Also that neckerchief has no business being paired with a sweatshirt. I agree with people that have been saying he wears too many neckerchiefs lately. Why did that even start?

Blaine's totally up on the gossip mags. Also I'm laughing because blindgossip actually tweeted Chris and said 'thanks for mentioning us!' when all season they've been running stories about how Chris and Lea are horrible people trying to get Darren fired and then, when Ryan said Blaine would be in season six, retracted it by implying that Darren had somehow 'won' over Lea and Chris and like...shut up, blindgossip, nobody likes you.

Obviously Chris was pulling from Lea's own love of animals with this storyline.

Oh no she's got that crazed smile again.

June Squibb was so cute in this episode! Although it's a little sad because the way she looks reminds me of my grandma who passed away last summer, and I have no living grandparents so it's bittersweet.

Kurt how high can your hair go.

It's a little sad that Glee's become a show where a guy who's in a band that had been getting good gigs, goes to the most prestigious drama school in the country, and has an internship with one of the biggest fashion names in the world, at barely 20 yeas old, is 'unsuccessful'.

When I was younger I was obsessed with dalmatians and wanted one so badly. Of course, I've never owned a dog, but I still think they're adorable. Cats are just so much less work.

I mean, I could comment on how this episode once again taught Rachel a Very Special Lesson that she's learned time and time again, but at the very least she was tolerable in the end and I'm not going to fault Chris for it when none of the other writers seem to have a problem re-hashing that story over and over (usually casting Rachel in a much more favorable light than Chris did).

LOOK AT THIS PUG IT'S SO CUTE.

This song was nice, although, with most of the songs this episode (I guess Chris didn't pick all of them. from what I've heard?) the storyline connection...wasn't there. Why 'Melt With You' for dogs?

Random Samchel moment.

And now we'll just release all the dogs.

That one's heading the other way.

Once again, Santana was lovely this episode and it's her last one as far as we know (and while most of her scenes were filmed by the time she had her...incident on-set, when she talks about a trio with Rachel and Mercedes that was
recorded but never filmed).

What is that smile.

Kurt finally acknowledging how one-sided Hummelberry is pleases me.

Chris said he had two rules when he got to write the episode: he couldn't break up with Blaine, and he couldn't kill anybody. Well, I guess they amended the second one!

Chris does dark humor so well.

Apparently Tim Conway just improv-ed most of his stuff, including this scene where Chris had no idea he was going to try and sit down with him.

But it was hilarious.

He's so prepared for this.

THEY JUST REMOVED THE PICTURE OF THE WOMAN WHO DIED LIKE IT WAS NOTHING.

Again, why not audition for Peter Pan with a song from Peter Pan? Why 'Cats'?

Admittedly Chris sounded lovely and this was very sweet.

And argh Maggie is such an adorable old lady.

I liked the Samcedes storyline this episode. I think they both had valid points and both made mistakes, but they behaved very maturely in the end and even though Mercedes was angry, and rightfully so, she didn't take it out on the dog in any way.

But I feel you, girl.

Sam you're very cute but you don't agree to something like not getting a pet, while living in somebody else's home, and then get one anyway and let it ruin everything.

ARTIE TELLING MERCEDES TO MOVE SO HE COULD SEE THE SCREEN HELP.

Oh no, her faux-huahua!

This part was dramatic and hilarious.

I'd be running if I were Sam at this point.

That dog is adorable.

Blaine and Artie were so bad here like Blaine you're going to drama school why is your acting so over-the-top? And Artie just yelling out, "SHE'S SO LIKABLE" seemed a little like meta, or maybe it's just because normally I find Rachel to be the opposite of that.

Did they have to pick the biggest dogs for her to walk?

Food has been spotted.

Santana that's not helping.

LOOK AT HIM HE'S SO HAPPY AND SO HAPPY THAT HE'S FINALLY PERFORMING.

And oh look Rachel's too concerned about herself to care.

Yup. Great friends.

Again, this was fun, but why 'Werewolves of London?' It has literally nothing to do with the scene.

This dog is amazingly well-trained though.

I'm sorry I keep spamming pictures of him because he's adorable.

He's not too sure about that teeter-totter though.

My dad had to mention how old Artie's camera looks. Film school students don't make any money, dad.

And then they get distracted by the hot girls with dogs.

Look at him he's so
well-behaved.

Although doggy sticking your head in that bucket isn't useful.

Captain Hook looks like he's on his last legs too.

Poor Kurt, he just wants this to go well.

The background characters are hilarious.

Hello, woman whose only purpose is to provide exposition.

And Kurt is, as always, compelled to go set things right.

See, I really like that Mercedes wasn't all, 'TAKE THAT DOG BACK RIGHT NOW!!!1!!!!!' but she's determined to find it a good home because she knows he won't be well taken care-of when they both have busy schedules.

HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO THOSE EYES THOUGH.

Yes, Chris, thank you for remembering that Sam is not a dunce because they dumbed him down so much to fit with Brittany and this was so much more like season two Sam and yay.

so yes I was very pleased with how Sam was written this episode.

I WANT TO TAKE HIM HOME.

And I like that Sam didn't just refuse to listen, but admitted that Mercedes was right about the dog and that wanting to prove he's responsible doesn't work when another life is being compromised for it.

Awwww

He's back with the Jack Harkness overcoat but burn those damn neckerchiefs.

Actually she and Kurt are wearing the exact same colors.

So while this storyline was a little sappy and rushed I do like that, again, it wasn't just one person who was completely in the wrong. Actually that was kind of the underlying theme of the episode, now that I think about it.

Oh no he's talking about his mother :(

And it's hard to tell if any progress was made.

Yes, Santana, calling the three-legged-dog 'Tripod' is really sensitive.

WHY IS ARTIE EATING DOG BISCUITS???

Oh look Rachel's being awful once more.

And still.

Santana her shoes are not a measure of how much respect she should be given.

...why does the camera focus on this 'Phantom of the Opera' poster for so long?

Oh no she's starting to feel...wait for it..guilt.

THIS WAS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED BECAUSE CHRIS SAID HE DIDN'T WRITE ANY KLAINE AND HE DID HE DID WRITE A KLAINE SCENE AND IT WAS SWEET AND SUPPORTIVE AND PERFECT.

*coughs at all of the people who say he despises it because he did not need to put this in*

And after all of those failed cheek kisses in previous episodes Kurt's finally standing still for this one.

"Don't sit in the front row" I'm pretty sure Chris ad-libbed this.

:')

This was the one part I didn't understand. Like, I think it's nice that he still wants to apologize, but really, he doesn't have to for this.

THEY BROUGHT THE DOG.

Blaine looks so proud.

This was so much fun and Chris looked like he was having the time of his life.

THOSE OLD PEOPLE IN THE BACKGROUND ARE PRETTY SPRY.

Seriously I want to do that.

The one-second shots of the old-people-as-kids were kind of out of place, though.

YEAH GRANDMA.

Yeah, this was predictable, but I don't care. Feel-good!Glee that doesn't get overly preachy is the best Glee.

SAM WHY IS THAT YOUR FIRST CONCERN.

S A M. All of the characters were so quality this episode.

Tim Conway as the crocodile yes good

She still has Tripod. Although I'm happy that family came back and got their dog.

Poor Sam.

ARTIE GETS THE PUG.

This was the one song that actually did fit. Even if the original message was changed, it still works.

Kurt it's just dog hair it's not going to kill you.

THAT POOR DOG LOOKS PETRIFIED.

Aww, Artie can get little old ladies to dance with him!

And the dog has a new home. Yay.

oh look, Rachel's learned her lesson and is praising other people!

I'm sure she'll forget by next week. Also bye, Santana, I hope you come back but we'll see how that one works out...
So overall, even though Rachel's storyline's been done multiple times before, this was a really strong, feel-good episode that remembered a lot of continuity, threw in a bunch of meta, incorporated Chris' signature dry humor extremely well, and still kept everybody in character.
I would really be happy if Chris wrote for the show again, and it sounds like that's the plan, so I'm happy for it! Thoughts?
(also season finale next week where Blaine sings 'All Of Me' and I cry)
