So having tried many different 'wonder' pillows I was very skeptical buying this. As a rule I normally don't buy anything on Amazon that has double digit negative reviews. Tried last night for the first time and my initial impression was that this might be too firm also I tend to be a pillow flipper due to the pillow getting too hot or too flat. I also have alot of neck pain from regular practice of BJJ so I was concerned this might exacerbate those.

After first night of sleep I can confirm, #1 the pillow never got too hot, I stayed in slide sleeper position way longer than normal and found the support perfect to keep my neck aligned. #2 I didn't detect any lingering smell after letting it inflate over eight hours as reported by others. I put it in a regular pillow case. #3 The memory foam never got too flat or misshapen. I was surprised that I slept with far less tossing and turning in a long time. #4 I have no neck pain or soreness after sleeping on this.

**UPDATE** 3.17.26 after a few days: Had a couple nights where it definitely got too warm and I wanted to flip it but couldn't. Seemed to help with wifey's snoring 1st couple of night but somehow she returned to snoring as usual. Both of us experienced some neck soreness after several nights, not sure if we maybe moved out of the hole in the pillow onto one of the higher parts. -1 Star Will evaluate further with some more testing.

**UPDATE 3.26.26** Found out several nights ago we accidentally started using pillow on the wrong side. Since switching to the recommended pillow position wifie's snoring has decreased dramatically! I think we are getting used to the pillow also, no neck soreness now and our sleep apps are showing deeper sleep consistently. +1 Star for helping with the snoring! Overall 5 Stars now. Will update if anything changes.

After sleeping on this pillow for one year, I feel qualified to evaluate the Derila Ergo. This pillow was not conveniently available a year ago, and therefore I am glad to see Amazon offering it. Especially with the great price. I feel I am one of the "beta testers" for this pillow. I originally purchased this because I saw an ad on YouTube. This is my SECOND purchased Derila Ergo, by the way!

Good things first:

The Derila Ergo helps with neck and airway support. I see it as mainly a pillow for back sleepers, but at the same time, I have not yet experimented using it in zero gravity on my bed. I am a side sleeper, and that could be good or bad, depending on your positioning. I found, at times, sleeping on my side, my ear would get crushed and painful. I am kind of used to it by now, though. It should work for most people who are side or back sleepers.

This pillow is very lightweight and on the small side. The small size will be a negative for some. But these traits make it ideal as a travel pillow. Many similar pillows are too big and heavy to lug around with you on a vacation.

I started using this two months before my home sleep study. There is no doubt in my mind that my scores would have been worse without it, leading to more aggressive treatment. As measured on the study, I only have mild sleep apnea and minimal snoring. This means I got prescribed an oral appliance, rather than a CPAP.

How do I know it helps airway support quite a bit? I switched back to my MyPillow for one night, and was sorry I did that. I felt worse and very tired the next day without my Derila Ergo. These days, my other pillows are for the use of guests.

I use mine with a dust cover, followed by a regular pillowcase. The fabric cover of the pillow can be removed pretty easily, and it washes just fine. Putting the cover back on your pillow is not that difficult - it just requires some stretching, while making sure to snap back the center portion where the "indent" is.

And now for the less than positive:

This is a memory foam pillow. As much as I felt it helped me, a few days ago, I started noticing less comfort with my neck. Even though I was sleeping in the same position, with the head of the bed elevated, I felt like my head wasn't as level or supported. This was after one year of use. So what did I do? Voila, I saw the Amazon price and decided to reorder. Last night I slept on the new one, and I really do feel the difference in my neck. So, I have to think that the "squishy and crunchable memory foam" had started to compress and break down a bit. There is no other explanation.

Though this isn't a deal breaker about the longevity, I really hope that the manufacturer hasn't started to scrimp and compromise on the materials. I promise you, after you've been sleeping on this pillow for a long time, you are going to notice any deviation in comfort and start to wonder about the pillow's durability.

Finally, if the manufacturer is reading this, Mr. Manufacturer, consider making the the pillow orientation more clear. If you watch any photo or video of this pillow in their ads, you will see that it is always placed on the bed with the scalloped part on the top. The bottom edge of the pillow, which is pretty even across, is apparently where your neck is intended to rest. Just looking at the package inserts, I can see that you tried to show this visually, but it wasn't clear enough in the drawings, which I feel should be re-done. And I did finally figure this out from the Derila Ergo ads. Some customers won't look at the drawings, and will simply place it with the scallop at the bottom, and think, "Gee, this feels comfortable." And I guess, for some, this would be the case. I did my switch to the correct orientation after a week or so, but not because of a lack of comfort. Just wanted to provide the proper support.

In summary, I am glad that I purchased another pillow. I will think positively that my new pillow will maintain its durability. Sometimes it is difficult to switch to memory foam if you aren't accustomed to it; however the Derila Ergo is a good choice.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIVING THIS A TRY!!

I have had this pillow for 9 days. It is firm yet squishy and feels good. I will say that when I lay down on it, I guess because it is so structured, I do not have that aaahhh… feeling like I did with my favorite L-shaped pillow but in the past nine days I have slept through the night almost every single night without having to roll over from pain in my neck and upper back and shoulder hurting. I also fall asleep faster. I am a side sleeper. I have wide shoulders with neck and back issues. This thing works! I use a regular pillowcase on it and it fits fine. You turn it one way for back sleeping and the other way for side sleeping. I did not realize this at first so I had it turned for back sleeping but I still slept through the night. When I figured it out and turned it around my neck is so much more supported. When you have it the wrong way for side sleeping it felt like it filled up my ear with pillow. 😂 It is not hot and it’s very supportive.

I deeply regret making fun of a review of this pillow stating that the pillow case should come with directions. I purchased an extra case and have now changed it 3x, each time taking about 15 mins to figure out how to get it all in there. Rolling the foam up like a burrito works best because the foam is thick and it simply doesn't fit in the zippered portion of the case. It's hard to maneuver the foam wings into place. However, this pillow has changed my sleep tremendously. No more ear pain due to the hole in the center. The neck support is amazing. It is quite firm, but the benefits outweigh the lack of softness. I would recommend this to any side sleeper that has been unable to find the proper support or having a lot of ear pain at night.

I used this pillow for the first time last night. It looked like it might not be comfortable to lie on all night, but it was amazing! It supported my neck and I fell asleep fast. I am a side sleeper, so I usually have a sore neck from time to time. I give this pillow 5 stars for being comfortable and supportive! I highly recommend this pillow. I also got the cooling pillowcase, and it was definitely worth it!

The pillow seems to help *somewhat* - I awake with some neck pain, and the tiredness is abated somewhat, but not to the degree advertised. I think its a good product, but not a cure-all. It DOES help - but not alleviate all issues.

If you are a typical side sleeper, then the pillow design may help you less than those who sleep on their backs. For face down stomach sleepers, its uncomfortable to the point of not being useful. Its a bit overstuffed, so maybe it will improve over time as it wears down. also - the high sides make night book reading before falling to sleep a bit of a problem as you have to hold your book very high to be able to see it over the pillow edge...so if you are the type that likes to read in bed before falling asleep? this pillow will affect your routine. Not impossible- but your arm will probably get tired if you hold a hard cover book 1.5 feet in the air for 20 minutes while you read...but maybe you get isometric exercise benefit? Anyways - I thought it *helped* with sleep consistency - but was not a total fix. Overall 3/5 stars. I'm glad I bought it, and for $60, its worth the gain in sleep. Just don't expect it to work miracles.

So far out of the 4 cervical pillows I’ve tried this is by far the best and most comfortable one I’ve used yet I have to say… I seep more soundly and my head and neck feel more comfortable than the last three…very happy with the purchase

I was waking up daily with neck pain and headaches . I tried so many different pillows but none of them seemed to work for me. I decided to give this a try . The first few nights I was still having some neck pain and took time for me to get used to the new pillow but after about 3 nights my neck pain was improving and I was waking up pain free. I do wish the pillow was a bit bigger. Its made well and is very comfortable especially if your a back sleeper. If you decide to try it give it a few nights to see if it works. I think you will find it helpful for your neck pain.

After two nights use my neck pain is non-existent. Excellent product very comfortable. Both the Pillow and pillowcase are a good fit, are well made and fit for purpose. Although with the recent heat i still used a chill mat. Thank you.

The pillow is too thick and hard for people with cervical disc problems. Too uncomfortable and very expensive. Regret buying it.
