  Leans hard.

  At a high level, it leans hard into atmosphere and slow-burn payoff. The early confusion isn’t an accident—it’s doing that “drop you into the world and make you figure it out” thing. That works if you’re in the mood for it… and absolutely drags if you’re not.

  Once it finds its footing, though? It starts to feel intentional instead of messy. The themes—corporate control, isolation, and that creeping “something’s not right here” tension—are actually pretty well executed. It’s got that cold, almost clinical vibe the whole time, which fits the title and setting perfectly.

  Engrossing characters, flowing storyline

  Occurring in an alternate future universe, this story follows the unraveling of an academician as he is unwittingly manipulated into entering an enterprise that results in losing what matters most to him. The setup is slow but then the actions begin to unfold. The hero/villain/secondary characters are well-developed and enhance the storyline. All the pieces come together and the outcome is realistic and makes sense. The best part is the final wrap up which throws in an unexpected twist that leaves the reader anticipating...a possibility.
