Anthony Owens is a decorated Navy veteran, federal IT specialist, and award-winning author. He served 20 years on active duty in the United States Navy, earning numerous accolades before continuing his career in technology as a federal employee and lead network engineer supporting Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia.

Anthony holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Business with a concentration in Information Security from Saint Leo University.

Beyond his professional career, Anthony is a writer who draws from a powerful personal story. Born in Dawson, Georgia, and raised in Brooklyn, New York by a single mother, he overcame a difficult upbringing and transformed those challenges into purpose-driven storytelling. His memoir, Syrup Sandwiches: Choose Not to Give Up!, won the 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Award in the BIPOC category and later earned the International Impact Book Award in Life Experience, Memoir, and Motivational categories.

He is also the author of the children’s book Raw Power, which addresses bullying; the suspense novel Reasons; and Fatherhood Matters!, which highlights the critical role fathers play in shaping their children’s lives. He recently published a collection of short stories, The Day We Forgot to Smile, and is preparing to release the sequel to Reasons, titled Reasons II: The Aftermath.

Anthony’s message is simple but powerful: resilience, responsibility, and the choice not to give up can change lives.

    Love, Loss, Suspense, and Mystery!

    The story begins as an endearing relationship between Kyle Blakenship and his young son Ryan. He’s dealing with being a single parent and their day to day life. While comforting his son from the loss of his mother. But suddenly the story shifts and then you’ll be whisked into mystery and the REASONS which led him to becoming a single parent.

    This book is filled with thought provoking occurrences, emotion, and suspense. I especially like the clear view of how the author reminisces on past events and situations. Although it doesn’t make the story confusing as to what place in time you’re in. It was very easy to distinguish whether Kyle was thinking or if it was present time. Which made the book more interesting to me as if the story was being told by the main character himself.

    The attention to details and what happens next with unfolding the mystery of Kyle’s loss will keep you absorbed. Anthony Owens has done an outstanding job of writing REASONS and I am deeply impressed with his ability to touch readers emotionally. If you like stories about mystery, love, loss, and murder, then I recommend reading this book.

    I absolutely enjoyed this book. The storytelling was beautifully crafted, and I was captivated by the character development and emotional depth throughout. What struck me most was the powerful message that we can't escape our problems—they follow us until we face them, but blessings can emerge from chaos.

    Watching Kyle battle alcoholism while Cathy struggled alongside him was heartbreaking, especially as her lack of emotional honesty led to devastating consequences and her tragic death.

    I was deeply moved by how her death became the catalyst for Kyle's transformation, and I found it compelling that someone from Cathy's past helped him navigate his grief and find new purpose.

    The domino effect throughout the story really impacted me; seeing how Cathy's pain and loss ultimately became Kyle's path to healing felt both painful and beautiful. This book gave me an unflinching look at grief and betrayal while showing the redemptive power of forgiveness. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone seeking an emotionally honest story about overcoming demons and finding hope.

    The book is an exceptional addition to any one’s book collection. It speaks to the importance of truth, and how one lie can change a family’s entire future. It is loving, suspenseful and filled with exciting twist and turns. I enjoyed it and will be looking for more from this author.
