This is 1/3 the price of the other mechanical numpads, plus has the keyset to do everything I've ever wanted on a numpad. It feels and sounds incredible to type on with gasket movement. This model is mechanical keyboard enthusiast approved! It wakes immediately on 2.4ghz, unlike my current keyboard. RGB is good too. The EK21-X model is 2/3 the price of others and has a full aluminum chassis, is you prefer that.

It is fully QMK functional (found in the Special-->Custom section of VIA, iirc) with VIA. I had to update the keypad to the latest firmware on windows then was able to bring in the v3 VIA firmware for 2.4ghz and wired and set it up as I wanted via wired setup on VIA on my mac. I use the num lock (useless on mac) for space and $ on different layers. The scroll wheel for ( ) and comma with left turn, right turn, and click. The Function key to go to a different layer and use all of the secondary functions written on the keys.

This keypad is almost perfect, except for two annoyances that are getting to the point that I'm considering returning it.

1st - It seems to go into "standby mode" after a certain amount of time not being used. I'm assuming this is to conserve battery. The issue is that when this happens the first keystroke wont register, which has led me to make mistakes while working. It didn't seem like a big deal at first, since I thought I would catch it or just remember to "wake it" after a while of being idle, but when I'm on a rush it gets annoying real quick.

2nd - One of the main features I was looking for was the ability to use it with with multiple (2) computers. A work laptop and my personal PC. It has a switch to go from Bluetooth, 2.5ghz, and USB (wired). However, most of the time when I switch it to bluetooth, in order to use with my personal computer, it won't register and I have to go into settings and reconnect it.

At this point I'm considering and going back to my previous 2.5ghz only number pad that never had the issue of going into idle and I simple move the usb dongle from my work laptop to my person computer when needed, without having to reconnect through Bluetooth. I could get a full size keyboard but I love my G915 TKL and it's also a much more expensive option.

On a positive note. The build quality is excellent. The keys feel buttery smooth. The RGB is nice when using it in a dark environment. I like the volume knob and being able to position it anywhere on your desk beats having a full size keyaboard.

Like many others I prefer the layout of 75% keyboards but miss having a numpad for work. This is the perfect solution as I only reach for it when creating excel documents. You can move it out of the way when not needed or leave it right next to your current keyboard. I swapped out the keycaps to match my current setup. The epomaker numpad sounds great out of the box and has nice flex due to the gaskets. You may find some cheaper options from unknown brands on Amazon but this is the one to get. They do offer an aluminum one but I did not feel it was necessary. I use it wired so I cannot comment on it's wireless performance. I highly recommend.

This is a pretty full featured numpad. Lots of color settings, patterns, and utility. I use at work since my mechanical keyboard isn’t full size. I like that it is hotswappable and has some nice secondary inputs. I do wish that it wasn’t a set angle though. My main argument against it is that it’s pricey. I could have built a full size keyboard for less than my two separate systems, but you live and learn. However, this is one of the best full feature/quality options for the price point.

I got this just to experiment with making a macro pad. But I was really pleasantly surprised at how smooth and thocky the keys are. Even though the body is made of plastic, it's still pretty heavy, has a great sound, and the gaskets even have some nice give. I feel like this keyboard hits way above its price point. This has made a great little project device to start playing with macros in VIA. And my fingers actually want to press the keys, unlike the weird buttons on my Stream Deck.

This is a pretty standard numpad and is perfect for your basic number entries. I just use it in wired mode but it does have wireless modes. The BT dongle fits into the back of the numpad when you want to store it but it's a loose fit and you'll most likely easily lose it if you're moving this around by putting it in a bag or something. I tried checking the features of setting custom macros through the VIA app but it didn't show the UI where I could actually change anything even though it showed it was connected. I couldn't be bothered to figure it out since I didn't really need macro's on this anyway.

The main problem with the numpad was that pressing down on any key on the lower part of the numpad had a big flex where the circuit board would just sink down into the housing. Luckily it was easy to take off the cover and I put in a thick rubber tape spacer to fix the issue. I guess for the cheap price you can't really expect quality control.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT TO USE IT FOR ANYTHING SIDE FROM A NUMPAD.

Physically, it's very nice. Nice sound, good feel, works wired, Bluetooth, and with its wireless 2.4 GHz dongle.

It says it's QMK/VIA compatible, but it's not.

With VIA, you can't assign a full slate of macros. When trying to add layers, after a certain point it just stops saving the keys, and tapping doesn't properly give back the right key codes. It's almost as if it ran out of memory and only synched to a certain point.

It's not QMK compatible - there no QMK code associated with the device, so you can't download and edit anything and then rewrite the firmware to do what you want it to.

I own a keebio bdn9, which is sort of in the same price bracket, but with fewer keys. I can give that thing so many layers and custom RGB and tons of macros. Not this thing.

Only good as a number pad with a *very* very basic second layer. You get what you pay for as a power user.

Numpad has a considerable amount of flex, and the flex is inconsistent depending on which buttons you press. This could easily be fixed by a motivated user, but I'm looking for something with more quality out of the box.

The rotary encoder quality is just OK. Steps seem like they get lost easily, and the rotary button press is inconsistent because of the aforementioned keypad flex.

Finally, the EK21 uses an older version of VIA firmware. The macro programming and flashing experience leaves a lot to be desired. Keychron's launcher remap experience is heads and shoulders above anything I experienced with this product.

I decided to return my unit after 6 hours and go with something higher quality. If you wanted to modify this numpad from the start, it seems like a fine base to build a project around.

We must agree that even is seems expensive at first sight , all the functionality that the numpad offers is well appreciated, thus compared to leading brands the goes for the double of the price , this unit is surprisingly effective, that been almost two years in use and no issue , quality of fabrication is meeting the expectation , tI thought that he power supply inside will be dead but no and I can used this , for almost two weeks without having to plug in .. working with PC and Apple products , the switch form one or the other is seamliless...

Latency exists when you hit a button for the first time. Otherwise it works well.
