Customers say

Customers praise the headphones' sound quality and find them worth the price. However, the fit and comfort receive mixed feedback - while some report a nice fit and premium feel, others mention they keep slipping out of the ears and can be painful to wear beyond a few minutes. The noise cancellation feature also divides opinions, with some finding it terrific while others say it's not effective at all.

Awesome Buds for the common man

Reviewed in India on 4 August 2022

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Here's my opinion after over a week of use, almost 7-8 hours per day, about 3-4 hours per session. This is quite a long review, so if you're short on time, you can skip it or scroll to the end for TL;DR.

Sound: 8/10. Highs are good, vocals are crisp, bass is tight. The coaxial-dual-driver setup does the job. It's not IEM/audiophile level, but for a casual listening session while taking a walk or a jog, or just hanging around with these on, you'll appreciate the sound quality over any other buds.

Fit: 7/10. Probably the only gripe I have with these, the fit is not apt for my ears. It's not loose or wobbly, once I put them on they stay there no matter what, but after over 3 hours of listening there's a slight discomfort. But fit is a subjective aspect. Overall the fit is good, and casual listening usually won't go too long for these to cause trouble.

Looks/Design: Metallic-finish shines bright, can be substituted for jewellery in casual events if that's your type, no judgement. But, it's a bit of a fingerprint-magnet, I avoid touching the shiny part to avoid any spies from stealing my identity with just clear-tape, if I do happen to touch it, I wipe it down. One good thing is that touch control can be turned off, so this will not skip songs in my playlist when I'm covering my tracks.

For me, the buds appear to protrude slightly outside my ears (don't tell me to rotate them, I have tried all angles/obliques), again this is the way my ears were designed. It might be different for others.

Noise Cancellation: 8/10. ANC is quite impressive. Snug fit alone gives Passive Cancellation of about 60% surrounding noise. ANC over that can subdue about 80%, but those are just for low-frequency noises like humming engines, or car acoustics.

Speech and sounds like Ambulance/Police sirens, neighbours needlessly drilling their walls, everlasting construction nearby, mother/wife turning on the grinder/mixer, shrieking girls running away from insects/lizards/dogs or female BTS fans during concerts can be heard very mildly. But once you turn on some (good) music even those are snubbed out.

It is not industry-leading like Sony/Bose earbuds, but then the price is also not industry-leading. It's a very good deal for this MRP. There is not a great deal of airplane-cabin feeling, just slightly noticeable. It disappears once music is turned on.

Transparency: 9/10. This is a very convenient feature that has spoiled me. I despise using other earbuds now because of this feature alone. These buds have been a close friend where environmental awareness is required.

Bikers trying to run over pedestrians, cars trying to drive over bystanders, truckers trying to become mass-murders, dogs growling and fighting on the street, I can hear them all! I have avoided close-calls with such situations because of these buds, even with music on!

Zomato/Swiggy delivery boys asking for directions or elderly people asking random questions can be answered without any additional movements. Once I start speaking, the earbuds switch to transparency and duck the music volume so I can hear everything. I just have to start with "Pardon me/Can you repeat/Sorry?" and I can continue the conversation from there. After staying silent for 5/10/15 seconds, the earbuds will switch back to the previous mode and bring back the music volume as well. Magic! If you ever get into an argument with someone and need to ignore that person, these earbuds will be your best friend. That said, it doesn't switch for momentary disturbances like coughs and sneezes, so you can continue to enjoy silence/music as your body does it what it does.

Just in medium setting transparency works good, although some short-lived high-pitched sounds seem to be amplified slightly. I was able to hear crows cawing and owls shrieking from quite far away, which my normal ears wouldn't have noticed.

I have not tried transparency on high/super-high for long durations, I suppose it can be used by elderly people to aid their hearing, or by mischievous people trying to eavesdrop on others. I suspect these buds can be used to listen to conversations in neighbouring houses at highest setting, so if you see your neighbour sporting these any time, start sound-proofing your house. I've assured my neighbours that I only use it at medium setting and I am not interested in their livelihood.

Battery Life: 10/10. Almost as advertised, close to 5 hours with ANC on, way over that with ANC off. The case feels slightly heavy compared to other competitors (but not un-pocketable), and build quality is good, although the font used is very light, need to struggle to see it in low lighting. It holds enough to charge the buds 4-5 times. I noticed that about 8% of case charge gives 20% to earbuds. If the buds are drained (I try not to, if I need to listen to something for this long, I have more comfortable and better equipment for that job), the case might last for 3 charges. Charging is fast enough, less than 1 hour to bring them up to a good level. I haven't tried to put them back on after 10 minutes of charge, I'm not that desperate.

Samsung Wear App: 7/10. It is good enough, it downloads a 'Pro' plugin when it recognizes these earbuds. Earbuds connect (after first-time pairing) as soon as the buds case are opened. Immediately the charge per earbud and case are visible. Generic options are present: switching between ANC On/Off/Transparency, Voice detection (the magic I mentioned above), touch control settings, earbud settings (EQ presets, call settings, etc.,). Only downer is there's no custom EQ setting, only presets. I've chosen Dynamic for my preference. Bass-heads have a Bass boost option.

If ANC is turned on, the app offers 2 choices between Low and High. I haven't had to use High yet, there are not many engines running around me to require it.

If transparency is turned on, a 4-slot slider appears to adjust the levels.

Other bells-and-whistles: There is a 'Find Earbuds' option in the app, DO NOT use this when wearing them! It is for those forgetful people who connect the earbuds to their phone but then misplace them somewhere. When activated, the earbuds will emit an alert like birds chirping, so they can be fished out from wherever. Obviously it won't work if the buds are not connected, they are not that magical yet. No, the case doesn't have such features if you're wondering, so take good care of the case and the buds.

There is also a voice-feedback option for calls, where it plays back an echo of the wearer's voice to prevent unnecessary shouting due to the feeling of muted ears. For heated arguments over calls, I advise turning this off as it aggravates things. One thing to note is it can't be switched while on a call, so better to pre-plan arguments (and avoid as much as possible).

Now that we've got all that out of the way, the Price: 7-10/10. Why the range? Because these are frequently on deal here. They usually retail at ~₹10k, but ever so often they can be found for under 7k. If you come across such an event, blindly press buy, it's worth that investment (not monetary advise, maybe mental-health advise). I bought these for ₹6690 during the Prime Day sale after sneaking and ambushing for quite a while and I've never been more proud of myself.

TL;DR: No-brainer, awesome, magical earbuds, best if you can buy it on deal.

    Excellent product, BUT…

I will divide this review in pros and cons and at last I’m going to provide my overall verdict on this.

    Pros:

    1. EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY, in terms of sound, Samsung and AKG nailed it, every note of the music is separate and can be easily heard. The sound signature is well-balanced, but if you’re a basshead then you’re going to miss that thumping base because these earphones don’t provide that mind shaking bass, but a good and balanced bass that doesn’t overpower the mids and highs, and doesn’t make the music sound muddy!

    2. The ANC is powerful, it’s not the best that you can get in this “above 10k” price range, but for me it’s value for money as I bought these in AMAZON’S GREAT INDIAN SALE for ₹5841 above which I got additional ₹100 cashback making the effective cost ₹5741. The active noise cancellation on these cuts out majority of noise, but not the higher frequency noises, so you will be able to hear people talking while you’re listening to music, but the loudness wouldn’t be very much. If you’re in a car and you activate noise cancellation then the engine and tyre noise completely vanishes which makes me love these earphones even more!

    3. AMBIENT SOUND MODE is so damn useful, I need not remove the earbuds while listening to music to hear someone else or to be aware of the surroundings, they do a pretty great job in letting in the outside noises, but yes, they’re not as natural sounding and you would be able to sense a little bit of robotic sound, but it’s not that much, and after the software update, it has improved even more.

    4. BUILD QUALITY is great, they feel premium and the case with the matt finish looks sturdy. The magnet on the earbuds is strong, but if you shake the case like crazy then the earphones are going to fall off the case.

    5. SAMSUNG WEARABLE APP SUPPORT is great, you can update your earbud’s software through the app, can do a number of customizations of touch controls, change the equaliser, and can even reset these earbuds through the application.

    6. TOUCH CONTROLS are amazing, I love it! One Tap - Play/Pause. Two taps - Next song/reject/receive call. Three taps - Prev. Song. Touch and hold - end the call/change noise mode/awake the voice assistant.

One more feature that I loved of touch control was that I enabled one setting in the app and then I was able to change the volume level by just tapping the back of my ear. Right ear - Volume Up. Left ear - Volume Down!

    7. IPX7 WATER RESISTANCE is phenomenal and should be mandatory on all earbuds. I can put them in water 1M deep for 30mins and they’ll work great. I can use them in showers even! But make sure not to expose them to steam or bathing chemicals.

    8. MIC QUALITY is brriliant, the other party has no complaint while hearing me, and it even cancels some white noise at the background so as to improve the call quality even more!

Now let’s talk about some of the downside of these earbuds!

    Cons:

    1. BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY AND RANGE is average. It’s not the best. It’s not what you would expect from a pair of earbuds that cost 10K. An average set of earbuds also has similar range. Maybe the range is more with samsung phones but that’s not an excuse, as non-samsung users have also paid the same amount of money.

    2. COMFORT is not good on these. Definitely not good. Samsung messed up here. When I got them, I used them for around 2-3 hours and my right ear became sore. I couldn’t even wash my right ear canal as it was swollen and it was painful to touch there for next two days, but since I had bought them, I thought to use them with the correct eartips for 2-3 days after the right ear was healed, and since then I haven’t got that problem again, but yes the comfort problem still persists, you would want to remove them after 1-2 hours of use and would require constant readjustment during that time as well! Many people say that after using the correct eartips the issue is resolved, but in my case it wasn’t solved. But yes, I can live with it. But different people have different ears, So maybe for them it’s not an issue, but still there’s a good chance that this problem will occur!

    3. NO APP SUPPORT FOR iOS/iPadOS/MacOS USERS. I own an iPad and an android non-samsung phone, and personally that’s an inconvenience that I have to connect to the mobile in order to check the battery level of the buds and the case or to change the touch control settings. ANC and Ambient Mode will still work in Apple devices.

One feature that I personally don’t consider as a pro but it’s neither a con as well, and that is VOICE DETECT. If someone talks to me and I can’t hear them, I can just say “pardon” or say anything and the earbuds detect it and switches to ambient from ANC which might sound great and convenient but that’s not convenient in longer conversations and we will have to continously do the “hmm” “ohh” so as to keep the ambient mode from switching back to ANC. But that’ my personal take on that, for others it might be a great convenience!

So my final verdict on these earphones after more than a week of use is that they’re commendable, they’re not perfect in any feature, but they do great in most of them which makes them pretty relaible! And at the price of 6K, they’re the KING of segment, there’s absolute zero competition to them. Even if you get these at upto 8K then just go for these, you’re not going to regret! GREAT JOB SAMSUNG!

One of the best TWS for the current price

Reviewed in India on 10 July 2022
Brief content visible, double tap to read full content.
Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

I have used Bose SoundSport and Sony WF-XB700. My primary usage is listening to music and for that, this is the finest amongst all mentioned. Initial impression was it is inferior to Bose and Sony for sound but better than Sony in microphone. But you have to give time to TWS for breaking in like any speakers and to find the best fit. This has to be the most tricky amongst the 3 to find the best fit.

But once you pick the trick and the right size of earbud tips, Galaxy Buds Pro shine in the sound department. The Bass is not as much as Sony XB700, unless you pick the Bass Boost setting in the Galaxy Wear setting app (which sacrifices details). But on Normal or Dynamic, the bass is punchy without being boomy and without sacrificing the details. Now I can barely appreciate the Sony and Bose for the lack of clarity, sound separation and wider sound stage that these buds provide, when for the last 3-4 years the Bose pair would be something I would keep coming back to regardless of whatever TWS I use. The bass is at par with Bose in Normal and Dynamic settings and the dual drivers make their purpose felt. The fit is the key to enjoy the sound. Without the right fit, you will find it uneasy and too loose in your ears. The battery is as mentioned. No gaming for me so can't comment on the lag there. But for music purposes and a small footprint (I tend to sleep with them which is incredibly difficult with Bose and Sony) these are the best you can get upto 15k in the market.

But since finding the right fit is not a straight forward job, most may not find it worthy within the first few days of purchase. But for me at around 7k mark, these are as good as they come on TWS. ANC is not as good as high end Bose and Sony but enough to take notice.

Own and have been using Jabra elite 85t. My review mostly as compared to it.

Type of music that I hear: Mostly Rock. Some Rap/Hip Hop.

    Views on Galaxy buds pro

    1. Sound Clarity - Very good. As good as Jabra.

    2. Sound separation & Sound stage. Great. Better than Jabra. Can easily make out each note. And the soundstage feels much wider.

    2. Highs, mids and lows perfect. Definitely more punchy/enjoyable sound than Jabra without sacrificing sound Clarity. Good bass. more than jabra.Butt can increase/decrease based on preference. Bass is good but not overpowering. So if overpowering bass is your thing, then likely will not be satisfied with any premium earbud as all of them have relatively balanced sound.

    3. Controls. Good for touch controls. Can customize tap and hold. Rest single tap, double tap, triple tap mapped and connot be changed. As with any touch control, accidental touches happen. Personally prefer button controla of Jabra. They are much more customizable as well.

    4. Comfort and snugness - Very comfortable for me. Don't fall out as well. But this is very person specific. So everyone's experience may differ.

    5. Compactness: extremely compact as compared to other earbuds.

    6. 360 audio- works with almost all videos (including YouTube) on Samsung mobiles only. Own Samsung mobile and have tested. Works but a gimmick. Personally keep it turned off. So won't be missing anything if you don't own Samsung phone.

    7. ANC : Just OK. Jabra has much better.

    8. Hearthrough mode: Much better than anything I have seen. Much better than Jabra.

    9. EQ: Can choose from 6 EQ settings. JABRA is fully customisable.

    10. Connectivity: Can connect/pair to multiple samsung devices at once. But if you have no. Samsung devices, it will pair with only 1 device at a time. However, pairing is extremely fast and easy. Jabra is the only premium earbud which can connect to 2 devices at once. So can seamlessly switch between your phone and laptop/tab with Jabra. Can do with galaxy buds pro only for Samsung devices.

    11. Ease of use- amazing in this area. Automatically switches from ANC to hearthrough mode if you start speaking. Pauses music/YouTube if you remove an earbud.

    12. Extra Feature - If you lose earbud, there is a find mode - earphones beep so that you can find. If you have left them out of house, it will give gps map navigation.

    12. Water protection: ipx7 rated. So no worries about sweat and rain. Had mistakenly washed by ipx4 rated Jabra in washing machine. Their microphone got damaged but everything else worked perfectly. So can only imagine how durable ipx7 rated buds pro would be.

    13. Battery: gives around 5 hrs with ANC on and 8 hrs with ANC off. but, with ANC off, sound is not good for some reason. So have to keep ANC on even if you don't require it. Around 18 hrs of charge in case. So pretty similar to other comparable earbuds. Jabra is slightly better in this case.

TLDR version: Perfect in every sense. Packed with useful features you won't find anywhere else. Only negative is just OK ANC mode.

Good Sound Quality but not so on ANC

I've been using them for a few months now. Got them for ₹6,999/- only. Here are my pointers:

    Pros:

    1) Excellent Sound Quality. Having dual drivers has its benefits. You get crisp high, excellent mids, and thumping bass. I'll go a step ahead and tell you the sound quality is better than AirPods. It is one of the best I've ever heard in the class.

    2) Respectable Battery Life: The battery backup is on the right side for these buds. they last anywhere between 4-6 hours of usage with 2 more charges in the case. And good thing that I can charge them on the go with the wireless charging option using reverse wireless charge on my phone.

    3) Great build quality: The build is excellent. IP rating suggests water resistance but I've not tested these in rains yet. (Don't want to even)

    4) Excellent Mic: The mic in these capture my sound perfectly and the callers have never had any issue listening to me.

    5) Quick Connectivity: When they are paired, you can connect to them even when they are connected to any other device. You don't have to disconnect them first from the earlier device.

    Cons:

    1) Below Par ANC: Active noise cancelation is not something I can cheer about. Not sure how they are blocking 99% noise. The caller can hear me but they can also hear the background noise. Ambient mode enhances the sound but noise cancelation mode is just not up to the mark.

    2) Does not support multi-point connection So you can not connect it to two different devices simultaneously. Although we can switch to another device very easily but that's as far as it gets. If you want it to switch to another device automatically then you must be on all Samsung devices which is not really the case with most people.

Below average, expected more in terms of calls and sound quality for a mid-range product

Writing the review after using the buds pro for 2 months; on Samsung Note 9.

    1. Music - The sound quality is not as great, but you can slightly improve it by adjusting the sound quality as per the user from the settings of the phone. There is no separate sound adjustment module that comes with buds pro. -Refer last screenshot- (Sony and Bose offer a separate module, but those are premium range earphones/headset)

    2. On call - As a user, you can hear the other person good and clearly, but the other person cannot hear you clearly. It probably picks up surrounding sounds more than your own for the caller. Needless to say, it is troublesome to be used for calls while you're on the go.

    3. Connectivity with phone - There are multiple times buds pro gets disconnected from the phone over the call and you have to place it back in the pod and then reconnect it again. This is the most irritating part about the buds pro.

    4. Connectivity with each other - At times one of the pods de-syncs and again you have to place it back in the pod and reconnect again (at times even this doesn't work unless you delete the sync module from Bluetooth settings and recalibrate the devices)

    5. ANC - module is average, but decent compared to other Samsung buds. You will still be able to hear noises that are loud, but for mid-range noises it cancels them out. You cannot change the ANC setting amidst the calls.

    6. Non ANC mode - the surrounding sounds are more filtered and sharp. You really get the feeling of noise-in-ear. And makes you wanna take it off as soon as possible. (Or maybe I just have sensitive ears :/ )

    7. Battery - on ANC mode it stays good for 5 - 6 hours even with music; without ANC it stays for another good 4 hours. Buds charge quickly from the pod and the pod takes 2-3 hours to charge completely.

    8. Fit - I have small ears, the pods fall off easily and often; especially if you're sweaty or if its humid. Won't recommend to use while at a heavy work setting, workout, or even in kitchen.

    9. Water resistance - Not willing to check this one...

    10. Prolonged usage - Using it past 2-3 hours (without ANC mode) makes you appreciate the normal sounds more vividly. Happy to use it on ANC mode.

Overall won't recommend it to anyone.

Amazing buds with a 2 dealbreaking flaws(must read if you are thinking to buy)

I don't write reviews much but this one made me do it so that others who are thinking to buy it can have a clear view.

As you can see with the title there are 2 major flaws that I will come in a bit, but lets start with all the good things, which are a lot.

Pros: 1. Amazing sound quality, going back to any other tws you will feel that buds pro are on a whole different level, even if you already have a high end tws you'll still like it

    2. Design. Omg these are THE BEST looking earbuds you'll put on your eyes, even if you are an airpods pro lover, you'll love the design and looks when you wear them.

    3. Feature rich. There are a plethora of features, from controlling everything(literally everything) on the buds themselves to 360 audio and amazing transparency mode.

One small problem is the touch pad gets touched easily and therell be a lot of mistouches.

    4. Great app support.

    5. Great connectivity and super responsive.

Now lets go to the cons which made me return them.

Cons: 1. The fit. This is the main reason why i had to return them.

Now fit depends on person to person, but i have never had a problem with any earphones because of the fit, but this one is just weirdly made. The shape is weird and wearing them is a task(you'll have to continuouslyadjust them and wearing them also takes juggling), they don't stay in firmly as well and comes out when you move much and THE PAIN they inflict in the ears is just uncomfortable. A part is bulging and that pushes in the ear inflicting pain.

    2. THE ANC: oh what a shame it is, i bought them thinking thet will be great, but it does almost nothing, even slow fan noise or ticking sounds doesn't go away, very disappointing anc especially when they claim 99% cancellation🤦

    So now coming to verdict

They are an amzing sounding buds with too many features to count, but if they don't fit you well, you will not like them and they will be uncomfortable for you.

If you are buying them for anc, DON'T

If you can go and try them first somewhere, i recommend you do it, because it'll be hard to return them as it only has replacement and not return and I myself returned them after a lot of hassle.

So this is the gist of them and i hope i gave you a good idea about them.
