These informational materials have been developed to provide kids with interesting and engaging scientific facts, as well as to deepen their understanding of fundamental scientific principles. They give kids the tools they need to experience and better understand these principles through fun, hands-on educational activities. Additionally, these informational materials encourage further investigation into the broad variety of STEM fields and serve to inspire the next generation of scientists, researchers, and explorers.

To help communicate information and educate, the format of these STEAM-accredited informational materials includes the learning guide, instruction booklets, and all the necessary devices and materials to complete the variety of scientific experiments and activities contained within. The learning guide contains scientific insight into the geologic properties of gemstones and crystals. It also details the process by which crystals form in nature. This was a huge hit as a birthday gift for a preschooler who loves all things outer space. Keep on mind it will require adult supervision and guidance, especially for younger children. It includes a nice variety- 3 activities. The glow in the dark constellations were a huge hit! The rocketship blasted off. Please be safe with that one. Painting the sun catchers is fun and fairly independent activity. (Note- some of the paints are light and don't show up very well.) But that was a minor limitation. Overall, I'd highly recommend this kit.

My son loves just about everything National Geographic puts out and he really wanted the Sensory Science kit this time, I was hesitant because I saw some not so great reviews, but decided to give it a go, and I’m so glad I did. All the items in the kit were excellent and great quality , I also have to mention that the play sand is the absolute best we have ever played with, The texture is soft and it molds well. We really love it.
I saw some reviewers were not happy with the pink sand in the kit and also weren’t to happy with the magnetic putty. The pink sand and the magnetic putty we received was great , the sand was incredibly soft. The Magnetic putty was a little stiff , but it’s putty so kind of expected , however , after playing with it a bit it softens up. We have no complaints, my kid loves the kit and I even like playing with it too lol.
I would also like to add that I was surprised that a really cool educational booklet came with the set and we learned some really cool facts about non-Newtonian fluid and also learned about how putty came into existence, it was very surprising.
Overall this is a great value for the money there are so many cool things in this kit and will keep your child busy and you might enjoy playing with it too just like I did lol.
