All 26 episodes from Stargate Infinitys single season (2002-03) are included in this four-disc DVD package, and although it bears only a passing resemblance to the feature film, television series, and made-for-TV movies that share its name (in fact, it apparently isnt even considered an "official" member of the Stargate universe), the show boasts enough good qualities of its own to make for perfectly serviceable animated entertainment. Of course, the Stargate itself, the alien device that creates "wormholes" through which characters travel to different worlds, is still front and center; indeed, the visual effects used to depict the contraption are very similar in both animation and live action. But pretty much everything else about Infinity is different. It takes place years after the adventures chronicled in the long-running Stargate SG-1 TV show (in this world, the existence of the Stargate is now common knowledge), which means that all of that series familiar characters are long gone. In their place are Major Gus Bonner (a salty, irreverent leader somewhat in the mold of SG-1 main man Richard Dean Anderson) and a team that includes a couple of teenagers, a half-human, half-alien brainiac, an empathic Native American, and weird creature who may or may not be one of the highly evolved "Ancients" familiar from the live action series. The villains have changed as well: principal among them are the huge, lizard-like Tlak'kahn, whose agenda, like all bad guys of their ilk, appears to be nothing less than total domination of the cosmos.
Despite the inherent limitations of television cartoons (principally the lack of a big enough budget to animate both characters and settings convincingly), Stargate: Infinity has all of the elements designed to appeal to its young (and presumably mostly male) audience, like cool aliens (Gigantic bugs! Slimy monsters!) and constant high-energy action sequences. This being a childrens show, it also has a mandated educational element (we learn about everything from the difference between stalactites and stalagmites to the kind of arches used in Roman architecture), as well as various life lessons (believe in yourself, dont judge others by appearance alone, etc.); to the shows credit, the latter tend to be laid on with a trowel instead of a shovel. Bonus features include an "Animated Stargate Effects Test" and original concept art. --Sam Graham
Product Description
Inspired by the blockbuster feature film and its two popular television spinoffs: Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: Infinity further explores the universe through the eyes of those few who are brave enough to venture through the mysterious Stargate.
This animated series chronicles a generation after the SGC first stepped through the alien device known as the Stargate. The war with the evil parasitic Goa uld is won. The once top-secret Stargate Command and its work have been declassified, and beings from other worlds are living among us.
But now there s a new threat and Major Gus Bonner must lead a group of young SGC cadets through the Stargate to protect the life of an Ancient from hostile new enemies.

Best Stargate since the movie
Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2012In my opinion Stargate Infinity is the best Stargate since the original movie hit the theater and feel sorry for the creators that it didn't do better that it only lasted one season.
The Col in this animated series remind me a lot of the Col from the Stargate film and I like that Echo looked more alien like in the cartoon than the SG-1 series half alien. In SG-1 the half human looked like a human with a bunch of tatoos and had seen better live action aliens in Star Trek or even original BattleStar Galactica.
I liked the plot of Infinity series which a lot like TV series Sliders had the Stargate team unable to find their way back to their own world as they travel from one to another protecting a new born of the race the suppose to of built the stargates (another some what reflection to the original movie) from a hunchback lizard like alien race.

Lesser Stargate is still better then most things on TV
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2018I don't know why more people don't like this series. Yes, its made for kids, but its trying hard to be a more intelligent kids series, and succeeds far more then some others - certainly better then the 2008 Clone Wars cartoon! The writers clearly love Stargate SG1 deeply and they do their best to pack 40 minutes of plot into every 25 minute episode. If you've done all the other Stargates and are still looking for more then its definitely worth a look!

childrens version
Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2008I ordered this series hastily and neglected to note that it is a childrens cartoon version of the series that I actually wanted to buy. Please be aware that this is an animated production. The series follows many of the same themes and still includes a lot of action. It is designed for children and is therefore simplified to suit.
The kids will love it I'm sure.

StarGate's Final Chapter!
Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2013Huge science fiction fan. StarGate was always a great show. Infinity just didn't receive enough time to attract a fan base, so the studio pulled the plug. The ending was totally unexpected. Highly recommend!

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 4, 2014I love the entire Stargate series and although the animation isn't brilliant and the script could use so e work, I would recommend it to Stargate fans with children as its a good way to get them interested in the series as you don't have to have seen any of the other seasons or films to enjoy it.

Reviewed in Canada on April 2, 2014If you like animation with a deeper story than most, this is for you. It's good for children. My 10 yr. old boy likes to watch these episodes before school.

Konstantinos Kostis1 out of 5 starsVerified Purchasewhy did they license the name Stargate for this? it's bad!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 2, 2008I've never understood why TV producers seem to believe one can sell any crap to kids, but this series is even pretty bad based on that assumption.
It has very little in common with the original Stargate SG-1 series.
It lacks the charm and great characters. Most stories are not even mildly entertaining. It may be called "Infinity" because of the endless repetition of the arch enemies trying and failing to get/hurt/kill the "team".
I'm a Stargate SG-1/Atlantis fan but I regret the waste of time and money on Stargate Infinity.
