According to recent findings by Cycling Industry News, 43% of UK bike shops and workshops are seeing workshop revenues increase by an incredible 10-25%!
In today’s bicycle retail market, it’s clear that workshops are becoming an essential part of any successful business. A well organised, professionally managed workshop gives you a real competitive advantage - helping attract both new and existing customers into your store and setting you apart from your competitors.
Whereas consumers can compare bike prices instantly online, they can’t compare trust, expertise, or service quality. That’s why any local bike shop with an excellent workshop reputation can really benefit.
Building that reputation can take a little time, but it starts with the right foundations. A highly skilled, well trained team of technicians ensures efficient, profitable turnaround on every type of repair, ultimately driving customer loyalty and long term business growth.
Modern bikes are more advanced than ever — hydraulic braking systems, sophisticated suspension designs, electronic shifting, integrated components, and e-bike motor diagnostics. This level of complexity demands skilled technicians and ongoing technical training.
Workshop service should no longer be seen as an optional extra; it should be your true competitive differentiator. Customers come back not just for the product, but because they trust the workshop behind it. Fast, skilled, and reliable service builds long-term loyalty and helps protect profit margins in a market where price competition is fierce.
Give your workshop team the skills they need to thrive - and build a workshop your customers can trust. As the UK’s leading cycle maintenance and technical training provider, we can give you all the tools you need to upskill, support and train your technicians - we offer the full range of Cytech courses, as well as a government funded bicycle mechanics apprenticeship programme. ... Last week we had the pleasure of hosting a group of cycle technicians who had travelled down from the Scottish Highlands to attend a Cytech e-bike course at our Stafford workshop.
Supported through The Scottish Government funded People and Place Programme, managed by HITRANS, to increase walking, wheeling, cycling and public transport for everyday journeys.
HITRANS run a regional Hi-Bike system that offers e-bikes to residents and visitors to the area. As a result of this training course, they will be expanding the scheme across more towns and villages in the community, to encourage more people to travel sustainably within the region.
We would like to wish the group all the best with this initiative as they continue to provide the infrastructure, facilities and information to encourage more active travel and cycling across the Highlands. ... See MoreSee Less

Well, that’s The Malverns Classic Festival done and dusted for another year (and it was certainly dusty)!
What an incredible weekend of fun, frolics and mountain bike racing – a true showcase of top-quality competition, events and the legendary MTB community spirit.
A massive thank you to Si Paton and his wonderful team for their warm hospitality and flawless organisation (again).
We had a great time too – our stand was constantly busy throughout the weekend, delivering technical advice, maintenance tips, information about our Cytech courses and careers advice with our bicycle mechanics apprenticeship. We also managed to sort out a few emergency repairs to help keep the wheels turning safely.
See you next year… ... See MoreSee Less
