While it makes sense for states to run their own
WOCS programs, it is beneficial to incorporate AC, RC, and ARNG MI warrant officers into combined technical training.
Finally, it is significant to note that since Soldiers are formally separated from the Army and subsequently conditionally appointed as a WO1 upon graduation from the
WOCS, students who fail to pass the WOBC are administratively separated from the Army.
Virtual
WOCs have the potential to disrupt the
WOC market.
Many large organizations, however, cannot deploy
WOCs on their networks.
In contrast, 16 of the original
WOCs had been either acquired or merged with the result that there were, at the time, 19
WOCs left.(3) In addition to the reduction in the number of
WOCs, the industry experienced a continuing high degree of ownership concentration within the
WOCs.
Following is a synopsis of the changes made in 2006 and the resultant
WOCS in operation today.
The market comprises two segments: application delivery controllers (ADCs) and WAN optimization controllers (
WOCs).
If they accept, a request for orders will be issued sending the selectee to WO training, Warrant Officer Candidate School (
WOCS) and the Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC), en route to their first unit as a WO.
"The market is naturally segmenting and consolidating along two lines: application--and server-focused application delivery controllers (ADCs) and network-focused WAN optimization controllers (
WOCs)," says Joe Skorupa, principal analyst for Gartner's communications research group.
