To fill the gap that this transition created, Jim Stauffer developed a cross-platform feint package called WinMac Dene Font.

Though this font is fully Unicode-compliant and available for both Mac and Windows platforms, many writers and organizations, especially in the smaller communities in the NWT, have yet to make the transition from WinMac Dene Fonts to Harvey's Aboriginal Unicode Fonts and, as a result, the character substitution problem is still common.
