Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) and Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA), a leading global supplier of automotive seating and electrical systems, today announced that they have entered into a Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (
WEVC) license agreement.
Under this license agreement, Qualcomm has granted Lear a royalty bearing license to develop, make and supply
WEVC systems based on Qualcomm Halo technology.
Ricardo has licensed Qualcomm Halo technology to commercialize
WEVC systems for Plug-In Hybrid (PHEVs) and Electric Vehicles (EVs).
This involves charging or powering a vehicle while on the move at normal speeds, using
WEVC technology embedded into roads.
Under this agreement, financial details of which were not availble, Ricardo, a global engineering, strategic, technical and environmental consultancy business, has licensed Qualcomm Halo technology to commercialise
WEVC systems for Plug-In Hybrid (PHEVs) and Electric Vehicles (EVs).
