The regatta began life back in 1980 as the Bruce & Walsh
SORC. For many yacht owners and their crews, the weekend four-race regatta, sailed over tight courses off Sydney Heads and, at times in it, is vital preparation for the Rolex Trophy, Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and Pittwater and Coffs Harbour Offshore Series, along with the championship events for the Sydney 38s and Farr 40s.
