Just after 3:47 am EDT on Saturday, April 27, Fermi's Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered on an eruption of high-energy light in the constellation Leo.

Washington, December 7 ( ANI ): The Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) aboard NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope is now 10 times better at catching the brief outbursts of high-energy light mysteriously produced above thunderstorms, thanks to improved data analysis techniques and a new operating mode.

Another Fermi instrument, the Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM), observes the entire sky not blocked by the Earth at any given moment.

Louisiana State University physicists together with an international team of colleagues using the Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) on NASA's Fermi gamma-ray space telescope discovered the anomaly.
