The basic question ECTWT needed to evaluate in 1992 was, "To what extent does what we have been doing on tourism, over the last decade, lead to the transformation of society?"

During its more than thirty years history, the ECTWT organized many consultations and meetings to sharpen its understanding of the tourism as a development, justice and peace issue from the perspective of the victims of tourism development.
