Rubbish!

My god. ruthytoothy just sent me the most disturbing video ever. It's an episode of a BBC show, "Top Gear." The episode is called "Top Gear takes on the U.S."

Part 1 - Part 2

Part 2 is the especially disturbing portion (you could just skip part 1 if you wanted). Check out New Orleans. I had no idea it was still like that there. On the other hand, I feel that I should point out that one of the reasons those houses haven't been fixed is that--as I understand it--no one has much desire to live there anymore. (You know--it could flood again, they've found new places elsewhere.)

Still, I totally blame the government for not taking immediate action after the hurricane.

Dear British people,

We are not all like that. In fact, we're mostly not like that. I'm in Texas, and I can't imagine anything like that incident in Alabama happening here. Yes, in Alabama--but only in Alabama.

Dear American people,

Why are you so hateful? Are you trying to pick a fight? And incidentally, why do you shoot your "Welcome to Alabama" signs?

Love,
John

PS: I prefer Baltimore, which is much more constructive. On the "Welcome to Baltimore" signs, usually people just write "hon"* instead of shooting.

PPS: I totally love that the Alabamans understood the word "rubbish" even though no Americans ever use it and rarely hear it.

* "Hon" is something people say a lot in Baltimore.
