Summary: She couldn't believe he wanted to marry her.
A/N: For the prompt Forever. Inspired by the chorus of "Flower Road" by BIGBANG.
Frey felt her cheeks heat up as she realized that Kiel was proposing to her. But it felt right to accept, to hold the ring close to her as they announced their engagement to his family and their friends.
And in a week, one that passed by in a blur, she was in an ivory wedding dress waiting for the ceremony to start. Ventuswill had mentioned, off-hand, that the townspeople would offer words on congratulations and well-wishes. She was distracted from her thoughts by the arrival of Volkanon, who led her outside to Kiel.
He still had that boyish charm that captivated her initially, but he looked handsome in Selphia’s traditional white suit. But it was the look in his eyes, that affectionate tenderness, that made her smile shyly.
Frey ducked her head, suddenly feeling bashful. She didn’t think she deserved his love and devotion, but she was going to be selfish enough—for once—to take it.
She knew she caused him a lot of pain, by putting Ventuswill first and asking him to accompany her on her journey through Rune Prana to save Ventuswill, but he was understanding. Frey didn’t understand how Kiel could love and accept her when she pushed him away.
He then squeezed her hand slightly, giving her the comfort that she didn’t realize she needed. With a deep breath, she started walking with him to hear what everyone wanted to say to them. She thanked the townspeople for their kind words, heartfelt and near tears.
And she couldn’t help but cry as they were declared officially married by Ventuswill.
