End of Year Stuff 2016

These are all movies I saw in 2016, whether they were released then or not. Most of these movies got a little blurb or a review from me already, so I will leave those be.

8) Brooklyn

Top TV
10) Legends of Tomorrow - This show made it because it has great characters and interactions and I am really enjoying s2. It would have been higher if S1 had been just a little better.

9) Pretty Little Liars - This almost didn't make it because the second half of s6 aired in 2016 and I hated almost every moment of it. I was so mad at the show, I didn't watch s7 right away. I binged watched the first few to get caught up one day and ended up really enjoying it! Plus, it fixed the thing that destroyed 6B.

8) Luke Cage - I admit. I liked the first half a lot. I will say something happened and it switched gears a little halfway through, and I did not like some of that change. But overall, this show was excellent. And I just adore Claire.

7) Agent Carter - I really loved this show and I am sad still it was canceled. S2 was such fun, though I did like s1 just a tiny bit more. I missed Angie!

6) Pitch - This show is sooo good, and I am so afraid it will be canceled! The characters are so interesting. I love Ginny. But it's Mark-Paul Gosselar who is the revelation to me. He's really great on this show! And Mike and Ginny have great chemistry (though I'd prefer them as friends, tbh). I hope there will be new episodes to see what happens either way.

5) Agents of SHIELD - This was #1 for me last year. It fell off a bit because I didn't love how, once again, it became the Daisy show in 3B. And I wasn't big on Ghost Rider in s4. But again, this show has such great characters and interactions, and 3B had the episode "The Singularity" in it which is now a top five favorite episode of mine. And it still has Melinda May. She does a lot to save this show for me!

4) iZombie - I stand by my belief that this show had the best season finale (s2) in 2016. That's why this show gets to be this high. Plus, Liv is still an amazing character, and I love Ravi. And I love all the characters. And I still maintain this is the most interesting zombie storytelling ever. This from someone who usually can't with zombies because they freak me out.

3) This Is Us - OMG, this show! I had no interest right away, wondering why this show was getting so much hype. Then I read about a possible twist ending in the pilot and I had to check it out. So glad I did because this is such a wonderful little family drama that makes me cry at least twice during every episode. I love everyone, but Randall and his family are my favorites. Sterling K. Brown just knocks it out of the park every episode.

2) Supergirl - I really really love this show! No, it probably doesn't have the best quality or whatever, but I find it immensely fun and enjoyable. What makes the show so special to me is the sisterly relationship of Alex and Kara. It's the heart of the show for me, and I am glad the show makes sure that is known. Yes, there are romantic pairings and whatever, but Kara and Alex are the main pairing. It's why I watch and why it is in second place over other shows. Also, the coming out story was so beautifully done in s2. I miss Cat, though.

1) Game of Thrones - I didn't even rank this last year, and it wasn't an honorable mention. So much happened in s5 that made me so angry that even the good things about it were tainted for me. But s6? What a difference a year makes? It's rare for me to say this, but s6 is my favoirte of the entire series. I think a lot of it has to do with my favorite, Sansa, becoming a total badass. I love her. Amazing how much Jon Snow's storyline became the most interesting to me, too, when I used to be bored to tears by it. Anyway, s6 was fantastic and I look forward to (and also dread because GoT) s7.

Honorable Mentions
The 100 - This was at #2 last year. S3 has just been so....uuuggghhh. There are many reasons why that I could rant about, but I'm keeping these as spoiler free as I can. The reason it even gets Honorable Mention status is because I liked some of Raven's stuff, in particular Lindsey Morgan's amazing acting! There were few other things I liked, but mostly, s3 was a shitshow.

BrainDead - Really bummed this got canceled. Even though it didn't quite make my list, I highly recommend if you like political satire. Though it kind of sadly resembles politics in real life. Anyway, it's 13 episodes that can be treated like a miniseries, and it has a satisfying ending. Also Aaron Tveit and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have amazing chemistry.

Daredevil - Still enjoyable enough, but it's not enough to make my list. It has good characters and aweseome fight and stunt scenes. That's pretty much why I watch it.

The Flash - Look, this show lost me at the end of s2. That's why it's here. I still enjoy it and I feel like it's really getting back on track. So maybe it'll make the list again next year.

Frequency - Yes, like the movie. I enjoy time travel anomily things. I enjoy family drama. I enjoy a good mystery. This show has all of that. It does not have the ratings, so I don't expect a renewal. So I'll enjoy this one as much as possible until they cancel.

Timeless - More time travel hijinks! I actually really like this and find it really entertaining and fun. I love Rufus. He basically makes this show for me. This is one to turn your brain off while watching and enjoy the ride.

Shows I Quit
Sleepy Hollow - I just...don't want to talk about it. Ugh, you suck, show.

Once Upon a Time - I tuned in for the first episode of the lastest season and noped right out. What a disappoinment this turned out to be. This show had a near perfect first season and it never lived up to that.

Now the 500 Episodes stats!

This year had the lowest number of episodes watched since I started this in 2012.

First episode of 2016: Teen Wolf 5x11 - The Last Chimera 1/5
Last episode of 2016: Travelers 1x01 - Pilot 12/31

Episodes on the hundreds to get an idea of the kinds of things I watched in 2016:
0100. The 100 3x08 - Terms and Conditions 3x10
0200. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 3x18 - The Singularity 4/26
0300. The Great British Bake Off 5x01 - Cake 7/3
0400. Arrow 5x01 - Legacy 10/6
0500. Nikita 2x13 - Clean Sweep 11/1
0600. Travelers 1x01 - Pilot 12/31

I love how there's always a Nikita episode among these. It is the one show I watch all the way through once a year.

Also, I saw I had 599 episodes watched and looked for something interesting to watch so I could make it an even 600. Almost last minute. Travelers seemed like an interesting new Netflix series about time travel.

Shows I marathoned in 2016:
Daredevil Season 2
Continuum Season 4 (only six episodes)
Supergirl Season 1 (rewatch)
Parks and Recreation Season 7 (watched with my sister)
The Great British Bake Off Season 5
Nikita Seasons 1-4

Shows I rewatched with my sister:
Breaking Bad Seasons 3-5
