Leadership Broward Foundation began in 1982 as an educational program of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. It was designed to enhance participants' leadership skills, provide practical experience in community action, and facilitate opportunities for interaction with established community leaders -- all for the purpose of strengthening their bond to the community. Upon completion of the first program year, the graduates formed Leadership Broward Alumni.
