Hartnagel was established in 1960. In 1984 it, as well as Angeles Millwork & Lumber, Co., was acquired by Arnold & Debbie Schouten, as Lumber Traders, Inc. In January of 2004, the Schouten's graciously transferred ownership of Lumber Traders to the employees of Hartnagel Building Supply and Angeles Millwork, in the form of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
