- Theatre has grown over the years in many ways. Most of this growth has been in the realm of technical theatre. There is much to be said for this, but we as theatre makers must push to change the way in which theatre is presented. All too often, scripts and theatre persons strive to acheive a level of theatre that is mearly sub-par to film and television. Theatre was rescued by film and television, not done in by it. We are not beholden to realism and the stories that film can provide for us, yet we still try to compare ourselves with this genre, aspire to it's virtues and repeat it's mistakes.
