About Brinsmaids

Since the mid 18th century, the Brinsmaids name has stood for excellence. The founding family members began in New England as jewelers and silversmiths. As the Iron Horse replaced the wagon train a restless Brinsmaids brother moved west as an importer of European porcelain and crystal. The Brinsmaids family pioneered the department store concept in the Midwest with great success at the turn of the 20th century. With the tragedy of a catastrophic fire and the growing need to locate near a major port, the firm moved back east. Today Brinsmaids, now located in picturesque New Canaan, has evolved to become one of Connecticut’s preeminent jewelry specialty stores.

Second Generation Family Owners

Scott Cusson and Suds Cusson-Range, partners, are the second generation family owners of Brinsmaids, offering close to 50 years of experience in fine jewelry and giftware. Both joined the family business after studying art and design in college. Their knowledgeable staff includes GIA graduates and other affiliates.
