- Sometimes, even the brightest light of day doesn't always chase away the shadows that lay in wait. Isn't it true, that we often step away from the shadows, seeking to walk in the sun's warm glow. Wanting only to bask in the brilliant light of the spotlight, rather than hide ourselves in darkness. I've often considered this, and found it too much the case. I stepped into the shadows years ago. Into the realm of the forbidden, and the damned. Even before this cursed blood ran through my veins, I lost myself to the light. I look back, the days lost sometimes to my mind, unable to recall happy childhood, when I might have played and laughed with my beloved family. I've forgotten, such simple joys, as embracing my mother on a cold winter's day, laughing in the woods as I played hide and seek. I've lost the sweet memories of joy brought to a child, by a new toy left on Christmas morn, or a present to remind me of my birth. Some have damned my name, cursing that very day. I am not certain what I myself have decided upon, whether to thank the God that has abandoned me, or damn my mother for giving birth to me that day. It seems to vary, depending upon the light of the moon, and the tide of moods she brings with it's rising. I don't know what lay ahead of me, so I can only look back, and tell that which has gone past. Death knows me, as she knows her own face in the mirror. Perhaps I can be satisified with that, and perhaps not. This is my past, as best I can remember things. Though the story is not always mine to tell, it is up to me, to begin it. These are my shadows......
